Dropping official Spoutcraft support - yottabyte - 07-11-2012 Hello! Android was going to mention this in the Age II thread, but forgot about it. We have decided to drop official support for the Spoutcraft client. The current Spout functions available will remain as long as they don't cause trouble, but we won't be adding any new Spout features. There is a number of reasons as to why we came to this decision, and I'd like to mention a few. 1. Spout moving away from Bukkit: The Spout team decided a while ago that Bukkit doesn't offer what they need and they want to write their own server from scratch. Cool, we thought. But then... 2. Bukkit devs now working on official server API: As the lead developers of Bukkit are now employees at Mojang, it's easy to choose Bukkit over Spout because it has official support from Mojang. 3. Bloated Spoutcraft client: We love some of the features with Spoutcraft, but it is very bloated. It's like the Windows Vista of Minecraft. It tends to run really bad on good computers and better than vanilla Minecraft on budget PCs. It's not very user-friendly at all in our opinion. RE: Dropping official Spoutcraft support - Smythie - 07-11-2012 Yeah I think this is a good choice. I never really was a fan of Spout. RE: Dropping official Spoutcraft support - guthriearmstrong - 07-11-2012 I love Spout, but god... the lag. And the lack of a decent minimap. Glad we're leaving it. RE: Dropping official Spoutcraft support - Riskae - 07-12-2012 Yay. Never liked it. RE: Dropping official Spoutcraft support - asdfasdflkjty911 - 07-13-2012 Original client is always best. Spout was cool the first time I used it, then it just became a hastle, because there was so much settings and everything. So does that mean that is always the first thing that goes through your mind? RE: Dropping official Spoutcraft support - Cerce - 07-15-2012 Not gonna lie. That was random.
