I use mine for music programing and djing. When theres a bunch of lines going into the computer and lots of internal sounds and que's it gets very intense on the CPU, but even then, I'll never exceed around %30 CPU usage on ableton

I have the i7-3820 on an X79 FTW. It's unnecessary as hell, but damn, it never, ever goes above 20% usage.

I hope you do realize usage is divided on the cores. It could say 12.5% cpu usage, but if you look closer it's actually one core using 100% and the other ones idling.
