"And remember, losing is fun." I love dwarf fortress. My most successful fort so far has been in existence for 2 years or so, and has vast food stocks due to our small plump helmet farm. I've also made 3 artifacts, a weapon rack, an amulet, and, my personal favorite, Edolish, the Alpacca wool sock. It menaces with spikes of puppy leather, and is made of Alpacca wool. On the item is the image Edolish, the Alpacca wool sock. My brother made a fortress one time that became super-wealthy, survived for close to 150 years, and had over 1 thousand residents, and was supported by a constantly tended 4x4 patch of plump helmets. Made enough meals for more than 3000 dwarves for an entire season, so he always had more food than needed for close to the entire year. Plump helmets power ALL. Especially when you have extremely high-level cooks.
