Hitler was a lunatic who facilitated the systematic murder of thousands of innocent people on account of race, religious belief and mental health. Hitler did nothing to devise a grand strategy for German conquest. The only thing worse than his paintings was his military stratgey. He blindly stormed his army on a whimsical mission with no coherent long term strategy. He blindly marched into Russia without recognizing that Russia gets a little more than chilly in the winter. Every German victory was the result of competence of the commanders in the German army doing the best they could with some of the worst strategic visions ever created by a deluded mind. Hitler also thought of himself as a military genius and refused to heed the advice of much more talented and competent advisors. Had Hitler somehow been successful his State would have quickly deteriorated it had no political structure or way of governing all of Europe and Russia. In terms of military strategists Hitler was arguably the worst. The German army was of a size and talent that German conquest would have definitely been possible if they didn't have such a raving lunatic as their commander.

Which is why I added that is greatest power was his power over men, and not the strategical part. That was his commanders due.
