well, i can list more then one source.
But the one easiest at hand would be Dungeons and dragons

You could look up there lore in world of warcraft which involves shamanish and tribe-ness aswell
And altho i'm not totally sure on this one i think its also mentioned in the oblivion lore about their tribal activities. but seeing they are a warriors class are allowed heavy armor there
