There's minecolony's, Humans+, Builder mobs, female companion, more creeps and weirdos, and probobly even more out there that add NPC's. Minecolony has workers that mine/farm/chop wood/deliver stuff for you (I think - oh, also they have limitted communication such as 'out of pickaxes' and 'sleeping' and 'no trees in range', etc), Humans+ just basically adds a whole buncha human mobs such as knights and pirates, the builder mod that I forget the name of builds trade cities (basically a 15X15 box of various materials with no roof and NPC's that trade with you) and random buildings that range from dirt hovels all the way to brick towers, more creeps and weirdos just adds homeless bums, burglars, hunchbacks, and Lord knows what else, and the female companion mod is my personal favorite (not in a perverted way, idiots), as that took some time to do and is more usefull than any of the other mods (save minecolony). If you really want to go and research some of these 'new ideas' that some of you guys are thinking of, just go to the One Stop Mod Shop (this thing is so popular it's the first hit on google!) - it has probobly a hundred mods of various versions and creators. They've got hookshot mods, questing mods, off-handed equipment mods (aka weilding a sword+shield), and Lord knows what else.

Sounds like some interesting mods to find, possibly to make single player worth something other than practice, though multiplayer is still better I think.
