I can finally say that we have tracked down the glitch and it has been reported to the Bukkit developers. Unfortunately we might have to be without the nether for a while though

Isn't there someway we can disable the placement any blocks other than netherrack in the nether? That way people can't exploit the bug and they still get their blazes and whatever.

The bug makes it so the game doesn't even register block placing events. This means we can't disallow it. That's why it was so hard to track down how people were duplicating blocks.

Yup, its been fixed and the nether will be re enabled in the next update
