I'm having trouble finding ore. I'm guessing it's a lot more abundant the deeper I go?

I had a lot of trouble too in the beginning, but you just need to find a big cave and try to go deeper and deeper. The background colour of the dirt walls underground tell you at which underground biome you are.

I've been playing this way too much since I decided to buy it. Tons of ores, three NPCs including a Merchant. 3 houses at different locations.

ores, crystal hearts, and chests are quite plentiful when when you are at the biome that is like gray with rocks in the background, though crystal hearts are most common inside dungeons generally 3-4 per dungeon

Spawn eater of worlds inside corruption otherwise its an instakill kinda like entering a dungeon prematurely.... Eater of worlds is the easiest of the 3 bosses not including goblin invasion.....cthulu you can spawn anywhere but make sure you got plenty of shurikens if your a lowbie XD.. skeleton.... well gl with fighting him its a trial and error fight for what works best with you... Though spawning eater of worlds in corruption you can continue to lead him back closer to the spawn so you can die while fighting him with no consequence of losing the boss fight.
