RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer - DARK_DUSK - 08-04-2011 Take a look at this server http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=CA#/watch?v=QhksNvUwaRc Take some inspiration the only reason they could pull that of is because they had people. If u have quantity u will get quality! This server proves it. RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer - Cerce - 08-04-2011 Yes, dark, but not a quantity of quality. And your link isn't working, I don't think. RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer - DARK_DUSK - 08-04-2011 Grrr my links never work RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer - yottabyte - 08-04-2011 (08-04-2011, 22:42)DARK_DUSK Wrote: Grrr my links never workStop linking mobile versions ![]() RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer - DARK_DUSK - 08-04-2011 Lol thanks yotta RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer - Cerce - 08-05-2011 You do realize that those were quality people who, after months and months of hosting that particular server, finally got together and made something epic? Even though it was completely boring? Do you not see the obvious weeks if not MONTHS of preperation, boring preperation, that it took to build that? Can I get a mod to tell me how long it took to build Mavenholm? Nobody thinks of these things - at least, not the general populace who, when asked about how active they are on the forums, they say: 'Wait - we have a forum?' - they think of the action-packed awesomeness of the above video. Thing is, we can never have these things come to pass without quality players who sit down, get out some good ol' 1980's style graphing paper like they did back in the original Bard's Tale and start mapping out, floor by floor, block by block, the multiple pathways and buildings of that server. Quantity did not do that. Why? Because quantity comes where quality is present. Except for where McDonalds is concerned ;P RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer - pavja2 - 08-05-2011 (08-04-2011, 20:05)DARK_DUSK Wrote: This made me think but I'm not sure if I should say it but we could add a LEVELING system to kiwike pro: it's gives choice and things that people want to do like I wanna be a yoman or I wanna be a king or a duke ect. Con: it might discourage people in some ways I think the further from Vanilla the server gets the worse it gets. My guild has a leveling system, it is player-run, player-maintained and player-enforced. I agree it would be super-sweet if Master-Thieves could pick chests faster than Applicants due to some mod, but there is a question of necessary vs sufficient. Vanilla systems are unique, require more time and are frankly more fun. Minecraft is a great game as it is, why mess with it? Like I said in previous posts. You don't need a plugin to make a thieves' guild, you don't need a plugin to run a lottery, you don't need a plugin to hide your stuff, you don't need a plugin to do most things that happen in game. I think the goal should be to bring kiwike minecraft to be the most "real world" style of minecraft we can. The basic idea is a gut-check ask yourself "is x possible IRL and is it not possible in Vanilla minecraft?" if yes then a plugin that adds that capability is arguably advisable otherwise I say we should stay away. RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer - Cerce - 08-05-2011 Well, we shouldn't go too strenuous on realism. Playability>Storyline>Realism>Graphics when it comes to roleplays, in my honest opinion. Just because you can do X irl doesn't mean we should strive to do X in game. Things like locked chests that can be opened with some skill, yes. Things like lazer-tripwire traps, maybe not so much. Boats and ships? Yes. Machine guns? Not so much. RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer - Naamandre3 - 08-09-2011 The only problem i have with this topic is the following. People are complaining about the fact that there is lack of role-play. So i invested time and am now remaking the Roadbuilders. I made a opening quest which i hoped to make epic. But seeing nobody showed interest i am now making it end quickly so i have a legit role-play reason to open my town. And now i opened my town. and re-did the Roadbuilders lore. Nobody seems interested. is it because people are not interested in the roadbuilders? Or is it because people do not understand that a role-play is not done within 5 minutes. and takes time from the role-player and the Person who designs the role-play. That roleplaying in a town like mine is supposed to be. Means logging on being character till you deliberately decide to be out of it. And stay in your character till you log out. Or maybe simply cause they do not look at the forums I wonder off all the people who are posting in this topic Who of them really wish to role-play like that. And who wish to simply have something else to do except mining. for 5 minutes a day. To kill some time. Cause if I know. That I can base my expectations. And future quests around the idea. RE: Suggestions from a Dying Breed of Roleplayer - MainDigger - 08-09-2011 Perhaps the people who post here are simply busy with doing other stuff. Btw, sorry i did not finish your quest Naam, was busy with pirating ![]() |
