I have a dwarf who is legendary level miner, diggy diggy hole, diggy diggy hole... He's also my (I opened the game to check the name of this noble class and it killed my fps for a bit) bookkeeper.
Also have a legendary tailor from that whole Edolish the alpacca wool sock thing.
And a legendary mason, doing well in this little hole carved into the side of a mountain with a river nobody can access

EDIT AGAIN: Sorry, previous post about legendary items was inaccurate. I actually have 4, the sock, the weapon rack, an oaken floodgate encrusted with gems and different types of wood, and a very nice marble mechanism encrusted with gems. You jelly? Fortress is on it's third year currently

Not much to look at currently though. Just finished my barracks section, along with the kennels. I also have a secondary living quarters for the next wave or two of migrants. I couldn't believe my eyes at the time of the last migration, but I checked my population and I got 15 (!!!) migrants in one trip. And about 20 animals consisting of dogs, cats, and some llamas. My dining room is legendary staus I also smoothed my entire mine shaft, and engraved parts, but it's just 2x2 so it's only an 8 block surface per level, but it shows the history of the fortress so far, and more history to come. Every year I shall engrave 1 level of the shaft. My food stocks are ok, same with my drinks. Lots of plant life, fairly peaceful, and the most hostile thing I've seen around here is an alligator or two in the river. I think that my next wave of migrants is going to be between 4 and 9 people, and hopefully some cows so if my harvest isn't very good I can get some meat without feeling evil when I slaughter puppies 
Seriously, got so bad at one point that I thought some of my dwarves were going to starve, so I slaughtered a ton of peacocks and half of the 50 puppies running around. Of course, one RL day later the number was back up to 42. Damn dogs need to learn to breed a little more selectively. EDIT: Oh, none of my dwarves have died yet. You should be very jelly about that.

I was just thinking of the Chronicles of Boatmurdered the other day, (http://lparchive.org/Dwarf-Fortress-Boatmurdered/Introduction/) And thought we people of kiwike should make a Dwarf Fortress succession game of our own, and chronicle it in a forum, and after we're done have yotta archive it so all can see our grandeur and our downfall

Also i have been having issues. How do you get out of the local map =/ I mean i try to scroll away but i get stuck on a wall in all four directions. =(

The local map is all you got biotch, live with that environment or perish like summer sweet pods in the middle of a desert above the lava-spewing fortresses multiple people enjoy making.Also, you mine by hitting d and then selecting an area with enter and your arrow keys or your mouse over the area. Successful troll is successful.

Hello my fellow awesome peoples. I am here to announce that yottabyte, if he accepts, will be elected as the starting leader of the fortress in our upcoming DWARF. FORTRESS. SUCCESSION GAME!!! Welcome to the kiwike chronicles, where we shall begin a fortress of dwarfy awesomeness, diggy diggy some hole, and FIGHT TO THE BITTER DEATH!!! All controlled by our completely competent rulers, currently, if this actually happens, yottabyte, kbrown, and me, doggypwn.
It will be challenging. It will be terrifying. It. Will. Be. DWARF FORTRESS.
