Yeah X got me to buy minecraft too, I personally think he started the snowball that is minecraft today.
I'm also guilty of buying Minecraft because of X. Well, not only him. My friend StargateNerd told me about a cool game he found and bought so I searched for it on YouTube and it was there I found X's videos which finally convinced me to buy it.
I bought the game after some late InDev footage I found that I thought looked cool, and then I stumbled across X, and it was like we were playing together only before multiplayer and on a different map.

I already had a torrent from a friend, but Yogscast Survival Island was so awesome at the time that I had to buy the real version. I also recruited countless friends with the Survival Island series.
To this day, I think that's the best limited series Yogscast has ever made - Israphel always seemed too staged and played out for me to continue watching. They make some good mod spotlights here and there, as they are generally funny guys together, but for the most part they're just boring now.
I generally like Nova, but he absolutely sucks at minecraft. Luckily for him he makes good commentary.
Ethos, on the other hand, is a minecraft god, but doesn't make very enthusiastic videos so it's hard to keep watching for anything but reconstructing his awesome creations.

i got into minecraft by the yogscast back when they did the survival island and stuf
and i stil watch them today but i do think they got a bit more boring
i also watch loads of other youtube commentators like Pbat, Slyfox, captainsparklez and the creatures
