the only things I don't pirate are games from series/companies that I is loyal too, indie games, or games based heavily on multiplayer.

I don't pirate games unless I want to try it out, or I must have it. The only exception to this is games that I absolutely love, just can't afford. Ex. WoW private servers.
Photoshop on the other hand....

I was thinking more in terms of video games.
I use GIMP because I never have a need for Photoshop. I make do with GIMP's better-than-Paint features.
