Me and Riskae are not a 'strange group of people'. That is unnecessary, rude and untrue. We are probably at least ten times more active than you are, hardly a fault that we should voice our opinions about something that would potentially hurt our gameplay experience. 2. Are you saying that you'd prefer if we had them in cobble boxes underground? Because that's a method of hiding them aswell. If we're going to be placing and breaking 2 or more blocks getting to the chest, why shouldn't we just be able to place one block on top of it instead? 3. We're not necessarily thieves. I don't often steal, I work hard for my valuables just like many others. Making this server just a game for thieves is hardly an admirable RP addition. I was talking that we did not want strange people griefing nor do we want known people griefing aswel. I was not saying you are griefing in any way. I think you misread my post.. calm down. Stating i am inactive just because i am not always online proves nothing, i have enough work to do with my school and behind the scenes writing the whole backbone on which the new server will work. I am not saying cobble boxes you should be more creative, use pistons for example? And like i stated before, but which you fail to see. it is not a game of thieves, stealing will be harder then you currently are imaging. RE: Locks and lockpicks - asdfasdflkjty911 - 12-03-2011 So it would be allowed to use pistons to have a block over a chest?? Because idk about yall but that sounds cool, I really wana make a huge chest room, all well organized and using pistons ![]() RE: Locks and lockpicks - yottabyte - 12-03-2011 A 4 digit code would just be a waste of time to even put on the server, since no one would bother to be a thief then. You can make an elaborate redstone system for a lock combination to enter your vault. Then an elaborate piston system to open and close chest rooms by having to place buttons and thus know where they are. But, using a piston to push a block over a chest so it cannot be opened. Nope, RE: Locks and lockpicks - Riskae - 12-03-2011 (12-03-2011, 23:36)yottabyte Wrote: A 4 digit code would just be a waste of time to even put on the server, since no one would bother to be a thief then. I stated that they would be expensive to make and realistically, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warded_lock locks aren't easy to pick, they never were. Pin tumbler locks have been around since 200 BCE Lever locks which are still used have have been around 17th century The fact of the matter is that lock picking locks in itself is an unrealistic venture to add to a game in a balanced way and that burying your chests is a much older concept RE: Locks and lockpicks - Naamandre3 - 12-04-2011 (12-03-2011, 23:49)Riskae Wrote:(12-03-2011, 23:36)yottabyte Wrote: A 4 digit code would just be a waste of time to even put on the server, since no one would bother to be a thief then. Warder lock are on of the easist to pick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJxOIAlWweU Just a simple prove of concept to show you how wrong you are in thinking locks are so hard to pick. all the tools were there long ago lock picking like i sayed before was easy up untill a recently as the 1900 RE: Locks and lockpicks - Riskae - 12-04-2011 (12-04-2011, 00:19)Naamandre3 Wrote:(12-03-2011, 23:49)Riskae Wrote:(12-03-2011, 23:36)yottabyte Wrote: A 4 digit code would just be a waste of time to even put on the server, since no one would bother to be a thief then. I always carry all of these things around with me. Are you proposing that a list of many various items will be required to pick a lock? Also there would be no uniformity as each would be made by a different crater. So you would have to know a lot about the lock which could range from very simple to very complex for it's lock type just to gain access. RE: Locks and lockpicks - Cell - 12-04-2011 Pick lock? TnT. RE: Locks and lockpicks - doggypwn - 12-04-2011 If I liked spout more (or my computer did, that is) I would say add a UI for the Oblivion-style lockpicking. That would be good, because that was hard and took focus, yet didn't take away from the RP or from the fun, because it was hard and edgy. |
