I want to build a desktop. What do, Kiwike? - geckosquid - 08-30-2011 Well, I've finally gotten tired of my 9 pound laptop with 30 minutes of battery life that is unable to run many new games well enough, so I've decided that I will build a desktop computer. My budget is around $750, and my focus is definitely 100% gaming. Any suggestions for the components I should use? RE: I want to build a desktop. What do, Kiwike? - Sir Prize - 08-30-2011 Don't get a NVidia Graphics card. Why? Because they are overpriced. They use cheap marketing to get customers. Like implementing things into games at the very last moment before release so that no one with a Radeon card can run it. (They own PhysX, so don't give me anything about not making games.) Don't get more than 4GB of RAM. Why? Because you don't need more than 4 when gaming. It's prepostrous. Get a 16+GB SSD, not above 100GB. Why? Because you're only going to keep the OS and the most used programs on it. And it's expensive as fuck. And that's probably as much advice as I could give you. RE: I want to build a desktop. What do, Kiwike? - yottabyte - 08-30-2011 Nvidia graphics cards are pretty damn good if you ask me. RAM is so cheap nowadays, you might as well get 8 GB for future compitability. When you buy a computer, it should be ready for the future, or else you will have to upgrade in a like a year. RE: I want to build a desktop.
