Map update idea - pavja2 - 09-18-2011 There has been a lot of concern / worry that either: A) The map will be reset son and everyone will lose everything that they build so they should not start any major project B) The map will never be reset and we will never get to have fun with new minecraft features I propose the following solution: Generate a new 1.8 map then use world edit to replace the center of the map with the current kiwike map. Then use world edit to create a massive ocean surrounding the map's "you have reached the edge of the map" barrier. Across this ocean there will be a whole "New World" of 1.8 terrain and wonders that take work to travel to and explore. If we wanted we could add KiwiShips that were water-only motion and people could sail across the vast ocean to the New World. Nothing from the current version would be lost other than the compact nature of the map (which is a little on the small side anyways). Are there any reasons that this is technically infeasible/impractical or undesireable? Vote above RE: Map update idea - Cell - 09-18-2011 From what I have seen. Any worlds that have already been genearted in 1.7.3, and any new chunks that are going to 1.8 will have a huge ocean before reaching the new world by default. I propose waiting until 1.9 before this is done, or anything for that mattter. And the latest full release. RE: Map update idea - Sir Prize - 09-18-2011 As much as I would like for this to work, the distance is already too big. The only way to get somewhere fast is the Nether, and that is hard to protect from griefing Ghasts. RE: Map update idea - doggypwn - 09-18-2011 prize. I have walked from every corner of the kiwike map to the other. Most of it was in one IRL day. In all seriousness, the world is rather small. I greatly welcome this idea pav, good job. But yes, wait for at least 1.9 to do so if anyone is even considering it. RE: Map update idea - RobertF - 09-19-2011 You know, there's a reason that the map size is restricted... RE: Map update idea - guthriearmstrong - 09-19-2011 To reduce lag. I don't really like this idea, because I was looking forward to actually living on this new map, starting a town there, et cetera. Not just exploring it. RE: Map update idea - Crazylol5 - 09-19-2011 Dump the current map. Seriously, it's filled with unnatural blocks everywhere and it has more holes than the average piece of cheese. RE: Map update idea - DjFuzz - 09-19-2011 Most cheese don't have Holes ![]() RE: Map update idea - yottabyte - 09-19-2011 In the Netherlands they always do. RE: Map update idea - Naamandre3 - 09-19-2011 Oh i'm so going to photo a cheese and prove you wrong yotta. Just wait untill i get back home.. |
