Well I did it? - tristo999 - 01-08-2012

Well guys I did it.
I built a computer.
Well... Not completely.
I am actually posting this to you on it.
But. Just a few problems.
1. I have no clue how to use Linux.
Due to me not having Windows yet, I am on Ubuntu.
2. I have no hard drive.
Not only am I running Ubuntu, but I am running it from a usb flash drive with 8 gbs.
3. I don't understand how to install Java or play any Youtube videos or play Minecraft in general.
Lol. But I am on the internets Wink
I'll probably be on my laptop for awhile. Maybe get out my old computer unless I get Minecraft working on my USB run computer. Wink
This is actually quite funny.
;P See you on the other side folks

I actually tried to run Linux from a flash drive today. First I tried DSL (Damn Small Linux) and it kept glitching out, so then I got Ubuntu. It's horribly slow on my old computer, I don't know if it's because it can't detect a graphics card for hardware acceleration or the single core CPU. Or perhaps a mix. It freezes every now and then.

I think in order to get Java, you open Terminal and type in "sudo apt-get install default-jre". Then you cd your way to the minecraft.jar folder (If you have it in the default download folder, it's "cd /home/ubuntu/Downloads/"). Minecraft.jar is downloaded from the minecraft.net website. Then type in "java -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -cp Minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame" and it should open. That's where my computer froze again though.

Edit: Nope, seems like tristo's already fixed it Okay

RE: Well I did it? - yottabyte - 01-08-2012

I like how you're proud of getting 15-30 fps. Shows how bad your old computer was Smiley

Again, if you haven't, change the minecraft settings to enable advanced OpenGL since your CPU is better than the GPU...

RE: Well I did it? - Sir Prize - 01-08-2012

Yes, that video card is terrible. But your cpu is more than sufficient.

RE: Well I did it? - tristo999 - 01-08-2012

Yup. It is fairly bad.
