Computer problems - Cerce - 01-08-2012

Well, here's the problem: My computer can run most anything up to Oblivion with low graphics fine. The problem is this: there's about 10 minutes of smooth running, and then BAM! It's like a lag spike with no internet relation. I have probably less than 1 FPS for a good minute, and it goes back to smooth running. I currently do indeed have an additional laptop cooling pad, called the Evercool Space Station, as well as recently ran CCleaner and a good long defrag. Here's my specs:

Computer: CompaqCQ-50
Processor: AMD Turion Dual-Core RM-70 2.00 GHz
RAM: 3.00 GB (2.75 available)
Operating System: Windows 7 32 bit
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G
Hard drive: 186 GB (Total); 44.4 GB (Free)

Any help?

Get a better computer? the graphics card looks fine but that cpu needs a major upgrade. with more processing power it should work better

Well if it works fine for most of the time I would assume that the CPU can handle it. Maybe try updating the GPUs driver? Go to NVIDIA's website and download the one for yours; don't use automatic update or w/e.

Here is their driver search. http://www.geforce.com/Drivers
GeForce
GeForce 8M series
8200M G
32-bit

I searched for your GPU and found this: http://www.geforce.com/Drivers/Results/39065

Hope it helps! Smiley

I'd say the problem either lies in processor or RAM.
It sounds as if there is a constant memory leak going on that's clogging up your RAM or cpu cache.
A simple formatting should fix this problem as it is most likely a software error if it is.
But if it doesn't, then I'd say your processor needs upgrading.
