A Message from the Wiki Staff - Leech - 04-03-2012 People say knowledge is power. Benjamin Franklin once said “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” So we find it surprising that many members of Kiwike seem to neglect the wiki. We’ve noticed this commonly held belief that the wiki has no purpose, and that simply is not true. Like the other parts of the community, the wiki is bustling with activity. New pages and templates are being added every day. Did you know we have prepared a table of towns, sortable by certain statistics? Or how about a comprehensive list of commands? The wiki mods have been adding new things every day. But, to say that the mods adding all of this information is a success would be a lie. Because, by doing this, we have overlooked the very thing a wiki is made for. A wiki is a place where the community comes to add their own information. Without that, it would be like game moderators roleplaying for you or forums mods just having conversations with themselves on the forums. It just doesn’t make sense. Now, don’t think I’m saying that the mods expect to do nothing. We’ll still be here, editing, adding new templates, and fixing what needs to be fixed. But we can’t be everywhere, and we likely don’t know enough about your group to write information about your it or anything it does. So we need you to do give us a hand The Dutch Biologist Antonie van Leeuwenhoek once said, “Whenever I found out anything remarkable, I have thought it my duty to put down my discovery on paper, so that all ingenious people might be informed thereof.” Editing the wiki is a helpful endeavor, and can be an enjoyable one. Many people find a great feeling in editing wikis, knowing that they have added to the integrity of that article. And a good looking wiki article can make a person/group look good. Readers can find a bounty of knowledge about a plethora of topics within our ever-expanding database. We have information on people, RP groups, and soon, towns and nations. To sum it all up, we’re still here. And we hope that you’ll be here soon, too. The only way that we can break this idea that the wiki is useless is for you, the loyal members of Kiwike, to join us and write articles that you feel are necessary. That is the only way to make the wiki the way you want it to be. So stop on by. You may learn even something new. Sincerely,
the Wiki Staff RE: A Message from the Wiki Staff - Ian25 - 04-03-2012 I will stop on by! RE: A Message from the Wiki Staff - squiggley1 - 04-03-2012 The reason not many people go to the wiki is because well... nothing has happened in revamped yet ![]() RE: A Message from the Wiki Staff - geckosquid - 04-03-2012 Nah, people just aren't really compelled to visit it. Hopefully this thread will change that. Good work, Leech. This is more to say "Hey, we're here, we don't have all this Revamped stuff yet because it's new, but remember that the wiki exist and will have some useful information in the future." RE: A Message from the Wiki Staff - geckosquid - 04-04-2012 People needed the reminder. I hope more people read this. We should have Droid sticky the thread. |
