The transition from single-player Minecraft to multi-player Minecraft is very big. There are a lot of things that will be affected by this transition. A few of the things that could be affected are how well your computer works, how you play, how you build, and what you will do to your Minecraft. With all these things and much more, it can get confusing to learn what to do in multiplayer, and what some people are talking about. This is what this guide is focused on doing, education those that are new to Minecraft multiplayer, or those that are new to Kiwike in general. Just keep in mind, this guide can't possible go over everything that can happened in multi-player, nor could it describe it all, so if you have a question that wasn't answered here, ask a mod, or a fellow member of Kiwike, i'm sure they can help.

Your computer is one essential to Minecraft in general, but especially multi-player. With multi-player you will experience much more lag than you would in single-player because of all the buildings and the chunks that have been loaded. With this if you have a slow computer you can be at a disadvantage in-game. But if you do experience extreme computer lag while in multi-player, there are some ways to speed it up, that don't cost money. It might not help much but its better than nothing.

I would not like to steal anyone's thunder, and this is full credit to Nfmous. He has given the community some programs that can speed up your computer, and other tips on how to do other things to make game-play much smoother.

Rules

The rules are for the current server. They may be changed any time in the future when 2.0 comes out, so keep a check up on them from time to time. But be careful, just because the rules say something about grieving, over using it can get you banned for abuse. (Ex. Tear down everyones house within 500x500 blocks of yours)

Client mods are extremely helpful when it comes to multi-player. But the only problem is there are some that are legal to use in the server, and some that are not. For example, a legal one would be Zan's minimap, which displays a minimap in the top right. An illegal one would be one that makes you fly, or go super speed. I will be listing the most common legal ones below and how to install them, and will updating as more come out.

Zan's Minimap

Zan's minimap is most likely the most common mod you will find in multiplayer servers. It allows you to map out your surroundings by placing markers on the minimap itself to tell you where things are. (Ex. Your hidden home). This helps you if you die or if you would like to see your surroundings. If your digging underground it can help you know if there is water or lava above you (On the surface), so you will know not to dig up. Very useful mod, i highly suggest it.

1. Go to this forum and download Modloader (For your version)
http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=80246
2. Go to this forum and download Zan's Minimap (For your version)
http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=97332&p=1456935#ZansMini
3. Once you have downloaded both extract them to a file somewhere.
4. Open up minecraft.Jar (Windows location is appdata/roaming/.minecraft/bin)(Not Sure About Mac)
5. Delete META-INF file in minecraft.Jar
6. Drag the contents of both Modloader and Zan's Minimap into minecraft.Jar.
7. Start Minecraft.

Nations are one of the most powerful things to ever be introduced into Kiwike. Nations are a group of people working together, as simple as that. But it is more in depth. Nation can either be rivals with each-other or allies, its up to them. With more nations, there is destine to be more wars and action in Kiwike. Joining a nation is a good way to stay protected in Kiwike, and a good way to get to know people if your knew, and i highly suggest it. A list of the nations will be below. If you want further information go to the official form post for the nation.

Structures are another big part of multi-player. Whether your structure will be for creativity or for war, it all depends, but either way, they can be helpful and appealing for the server. For instance, if you are building a city you would like it to be well defended. So you would most likely have walls and a mote. Now that is a just a simple example of structure and how it can be used. There are far more in depth ways to involve it. Another example would be if you had 5 people, and a 500x500 area of land to defend, it would be hard no? Well structure involves all of this. Theres underground structure, underwater structure, pure land structure, and air structures. With all these kinds theres a variety amongst the server.

Land Structure

Structure on land is in much variety like an other. It is much harder to defend structures that are on land, but much easier to build them. With land you have a lot less work to do, while if you where in water you would have to empty out the water, or underground you would have to dig it all out. Land involves walls for protection, and defense systems of all sorts of kinds. Its all in variety up here.

Underground Structure

Structure underground. Probably one of the most defended of them all. With underground you can defend one entrance, and you will be hidden if you plan it out right. But the problem with underground just like with water, is it is time consuming. But the end product will be worth it.

Underwater Structure

Underwater structure. A rare one to see, but also a very defendable one. With this you can't be blown up from the outside with TNT or creepers, because of the water, and blocks are harder to break from the outside. But underwater is also very time consuming, because you have to find water first of all, then you have to derid your home of the water when building it. Not to mention the building part being hard. But it is also the most defend-able of them all in the face almost impenetrable and i you have one entrance, very easy to protect.

Air Structure

Last but not least, air structure. Its another rare one, but once again very easy to defend. If you have one way up, you can defend that entrance. But is also hard to make appealing to the eye, and to get it floating. Requires a lot of resources in-fact that your starting without a floor, and you don't have the joy of farm animals for a while. Very risky strategy, I don't recommend for beginners.

Thats almost all the basics for one to know in multi-player Minecraft. There a few that i left out that you can learn from just playing the game, such as crouching will make your name translucent. Hope the guide helped, if i missed anything just leave a comment below.
Thanks,
Cell.

(For those that saw the old version of the Guide, tell me in the comments which one you like better, after a while ill put up the one that gets the most votes. Thanks.)
