Question : - Cerce - 05-14-2012 If one has an IC reason to be a douchebag, does this absolve them of rule 1? I'm on my phone in DC right now, so I can't elaborate much RE: Question : - Crashlander04 - 05-14-2012 Yeah, pretty much - the rules applying to the player of Kiwike technically don't apply to their characters (I mean how they act and behave, not like xraying and griefing, mind you). If your character has been insulted, or was attacked, they can hypothetically be a dick all they want to 'enemy' parties - not limited to in-character flaming and assaults. To say that all characters have to be sweet, patient babies in RP kills even more realism than constant raids and random KOS. However, being a douche OOC or IC because of an event in the other, is either immature or metagaming. You wouldn't really go and bitch at somebody because they killed you in CoD (I'd hope), but with this server people seem to take IC events personally - and it comes out into the community in the form of petty ban requests, arguing publically, or flaming (ie; cheap entertainment..). RE: Question : - partyars - 05-14-2012 It'll have to be a pretty good reason tho. We won't allow people ruining other people's experience just because they "happen to have a bad day". RE: Question : - Android - 05-14-2012 Considering Rule #1 has been split up and defined, no, rules take precedence. Using "comprehend" kinda ruined the joke. :/ RE: Question : - Cerce - 05-15-2012 I have a feeling that this could pose a very large problem. A few examples: (05-14-2012, 03:13)partyars Wrote: It'll have to be a pretty good reason tho. We won't allow people ruining other people's experience just because they "happen to have a bad day".Who defines what is a good reason? If it is the mods, is that not imposing a set type of stereotypical roleplay on the majority, thereby restricting certain types of roleplay? If it is the populace, is that not posing the problem of having a minority group having their experience ruined to an extent? Isn't even RP-killing ruining someone's experience to an extent? What if their character truly is having a bad day, or just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or maybe even stubbed their toe and caused them to go into a bad mood and be a douche? Let's take a quick look at the split up and defined rule of #1: Quote:1) Be Mature, a.k.a. “Don’t be a Douchebag”Why, oh why, have these rules not been acted on as much as they could be acted on? It is obviously apparent that numerous members of the community - even me at times - have been outright douches according to, at the very least, the category of respect. Why aren't we seeing me, Crash, Pwol, NLewis, Gira, Ian, or whoever the hell else decides to post disrespectful comments get warnings, or even bans? Is the administration afraid that the public will lash out accordingly? Or is it too much trouble? (And, for the record, I'm not targeting the administration - they do an excellent job. Consider this a 'devil's advocate' post, in a matter of speaking) Does the administration instead focus bans on in-game property damage, or out-of character killing? And, for the love of God, why aren't we seeing people who don't fall under any of the subcatagories, yet are still obvious douchebags (OoC, of course), warned or banned?!? |
