I suggest that an advertisement campaign, comprised of either youtube videos, or ad-banners be set up by a team of selected media correspondents or volunteers to be distributed via the official server staff.
A project, even as little as one person, should be set up to create unique (honest) representations of Kiwike in order to gain new RP oriented players. The ability to fly should be granted to video makers at least temporarily - maybe even to those inclined to take screenshots for possible banners.
In the end, the media devices should be reviewed and selected by the community (for the sake of community approval) to be then distributed, and featured via Kiwike authority.
Casual advertisement should be encouraged - I suggest an in-game gn (you can decide) benefit for each player that somebody recruits to the server. Almost like free coffee mugs for every referral, except instead of referrals it would be completed applications. Yes, I realize people probably have already invited all of their friends, but it wouldn't hurt.
If any funds can be donated from Kiwike's bank, paid advertisements around videogaming/RP/minecraft specific communities should be set up.

There should be enough money to make some sort of advertisement possible from the many donations.

Perhaps if it was made legal for other servers to advertise here, I wouldn't have such a problem with us advertising at other servers.

I think word of mouth should be encouraged, and money should be spent on a better system. Too much lag...
