Gorad's Son - guthriearmstrong - 09-30-2012 After hacking away at a birch tree for hours, the load of the logs became a burden. Guthrie stashed his ax under a nearby leaf pile, and turned back to walk home. Upon stepping foot at his doorway, Guthrie looked down to see a small baby dwarf lying at his doorstop. The child was sleeping peacefully in his cocoon of rags. Guthrie reached down to pick up the baby boy, at which point a small parchment fell out of the rags. Guthrie carried the baby inside, lay him to rest on his bed, and then proceeded into the hall to read the parchment. The parchment read as follows: My dear friend Guthrie, The village of Fortinbras has fallen. I am growing sick, unsuited to raise a child. I am entrusting you with my only son, whom I have named after you. His mother and grandfather died in a raid three months ago, on the child's birthday. After hearing news of your recovery from corruption, I have decided that you would be the ideal stepfather for young Guthrie. Raise him, train him, and help him to reclaim Fortinbras. ~Gorad of Fortinbras Guthrie set the parchment down in front of him, and sat silently. While it was understandable that Gorad was sick, Guthrie did not live in ideal conditions to raise a child. He lived in solitude, and lived off bread alone. He had only just recovered from a maddening bloodlust. He left the hall, and lay in bed beside his new son. Guthrie Jr, as Gorad had named him. ((Am I really the first person here to roleplay a parent?)) RE: Gorad's Son - theonedoctor - 10-01-2012 ((Not sure would you count as Drew a father... I still dont understand how that works but you maybe one of the first RE: Gorad's Son - guthriearmstrong - 10-01-2012 ((It'll fit together eventually. I hope. Working on a post to make this work.)) RE: Gorad's Son - theonedoctor - 10-03-2012 (( well i would like to see something new.)) (( well i would like to see something new.)) RE: Gorad's Son - guthriearmstrong - 10-03-2012 Junior grew quickly. As years passed, Guthrie Sr. quickly grew weak, an unfortunate side effect of his former corruption. Junior grew to be a stout young dwarf, trained in sword fight and in smithing. After spending far too much time underground, even for a dwarf, Junior grew tired of the darkness. He spent his days above ground, playing with his wolf and tending the livestock. Guthrie occasionally took his new son to the Inn, teaching him in the ways of social and marketing arts. Junior and Guthrie eventually began building the layout and founding structures of New Fortinbras. Junior crept into the bedroom. Guthrie lay in bed weak, bones brittle, voice soft. Junior sat there, silent, knowing that death was imminent. After hours watching Guthrie sleep, Guthrie's faintly audible heartbeat slowed. Eventually, the room grew silent. Guthrie's heartbeat had stopped, the only sound left was the crackling of skeleton bones and the moaning of a lone zombie peering inside. RE: Gorad's Son - Crashlander04 - 10-03-2012 Jon Daric was dying. He knew it. The disease that had crept upon him in his adventures in the swamps had quickly devoured his strength.. he didn't have more than a few days left. But what of his son, he wondered. Who would take care of the month year old infant, Ian Daric? Ian was his sole heir, and the will of a great fortune. Daric had no true, close friends. Enc'ela was abandoned these days and the savage imbeciles of Toa roamed the lands nearby. Daric knew what needed to be done. With the last ounces of his strength, he searched for somebody in a distant land to care for his beloved child. He stumbled upon Guthrie's home - nobody appeared to be there from the front door but it looked occupied.. As the last bit of strength was drained from Daric's body, he placed his son on the doorstep, and collapsed. Jon Daric was dead. RE: Gorad's Son - guthriearmstrong - 10-03-2012 ((What. You're... Damn it man. I can't... uh... Crash, I'm going about this by playing as my new son. I can't ACTUALLY just make a new character appear. How do I do this? X_X)) ((I also have a corpse at my doorstep? Uh...)) ((Maybe I should RP burning the baby and corpse... No, no. That's disgusting. God damnit...) RE: Gorad's Son - Crashlander04 - 10-03-2012 ((AHAHAHAHAH good luck. Spontaneous RP is great.))
