Discovering Kiwike - iDieForEXP - 11-11-2012

In light of her second birthday, I want to know how everyone found their way to this little slice of heaven we all call home. Vets try to rack your brains to remember, and the noobies here should let us know so we can find the most effective way to advertise. After youve said that, regale us all with some of your favorite memories over the years. Ill start.

I found Kiwike back in the winter of '11 when my minecraft addiction was slowly fizzling out. I had just downloaded WoW, and had gotten all pumped about joining this roleplay guild. Me being me, I did lots of google searches about it, and coincidentally the name of that guild was "The Knights of Dusk". Kiwike popped up on google and so I clicked and read everything on that thread, it was something about how people wanted pavja to show them his bases on the 2.0 map. I read it all thinking it was about WoW. It wasnt until I did a keyword search on Kiwike and read some more that I actually figured it out. Everything just clicked and so I logged in later that day.

Some of my favorite memories on Kiwike was first working WITH Giratina to find Solitude (which we thought was the Northern Alliance). And then fighting AGAINST him. Catching on fire randomly while building my world famous coliseum was pretty fun, and I then went to bargain with him, offering him the Northern Alliances coords if he'd stop attacking, and he accepted. I was so proud of myself for turning my two enemies on each other. Giratina was banned within a day of that deal... Another memory I have is when I snuck out from Promethia to start establishing Enc'ela. (You know, epicketchup was the one who gave me that name, true story) It had the best architecture on the server. Too bad hardly anyone visited... And I suppose my last fond memory was when Shaun and Cheesy were raiding Enc'ela, and Crash stalled them for 10 minutes talking abour bread while I snuck up behind them and showered them with potions. :') Good times, and heres to many more!

Now you people tell your own stories!

RE: Discovering Kiwike - Cell - 11-11-2012

I think I should just go ahead and tell my whole Kiwike story.

Enjoy your wall of text

Well, I joined Kiwike near the beginning of my Minecraft days, so I should start there.

Really, it all started with Youtube. I had just popped it up and watched a video that looked rather interesting labeled "X's Adventures in Minecraft". This was when Minecraft was really, really, Alpha. So, I watched it through and got interested in the game. I ended up looking it up. I found out it cost money and at the point in time my parents were the pinnacle of anti-game enthusiasts, so I just dropped the subject.

Not until a week or so later did it come back to mind during school. A friend of a year or so was discussing a new game he had found when I brought up Minecraft. He had gave me the "heard of it" kind of deal, to where as I asked if he had it. "No." was the answer, and I asked if he had played it. So he told me of a guy in our grade who lent his account out to others since he didn't play much. I approached him amd asked if I could use it until I got one of my own, and the rest went from there. Hence, Narazkaly. (That's right, i'm looking at you Yottabyte and Android.)

So my Minecraft days began. I started with a singleplayer world designing a base to this day I still think as beautiful, but sadly the world was corrupted and destroyed. So I began another world and began to talk about the game to some friends from Xbox. One being Fitzwater (Tristo999) and another being Greg (711Rocks5). I remember getting Greg into Minecraft, but I don't quite remember getting Tristan in it, if I did at all (Might of been Leech/Andy). So, we started playing. I think the first server we joined as a team was a Lava survival server on Original Minecraft. We played on that server for a few weeks and made plenty of friends, until things went downhill. I won't go into details, but it involved Tristo getting banned, and Greg and I being quite furious.

So, ended our Minecraft days at the time. Until I booted up my Xbox to hear from Greg that Tristan and him had found a new server to play on, and that it was a survival server. So I booted up Minecraft one more time and hopped on. I was introduced to Kiwike 1.0, and set off on my journey. It consisted of immediately running to Droidopolis where as we took shelter with FlyingLeech a player of the server and a real life friend of Tristan. We set off in our seperate directions, Tristan going on to create Hollowville, Greg and I going off to create Olympia. This is when we began to get familiar with the members of the server and made some friends. That was until Bukkit was released and Yottabyte put up a temporary map to test it out.

A vote was put in favor and it passed, the new map was no longer temporary, and this is when I took my first leave on Kiwike. Due to Bukkit being brand new, there was no protection and no rules against griefing, so Greg and I got up and left. We occasianly messed around on Tristan's new private server, which was attempted to make public but still fun at the same. That's when I met Android, an Admin on the Tristan's server, but still a long time player of Kiwike (long before I joined). I was inactive at the time of his promotion to Super Moderator, and then to Admin, so i'm not sure of that part.

So, I rejoined Kiwike: Pre 2.0 months later. Only to see Android on himself, and messaged him asking if I could join him. He was currently living hidden underground with another person. This, was ZupZup. With his permission, I moved in and I made my mark on the world until 2.0. Meeting many people along the way, including Cerce, and others.

2.0 rolled around, and it was time for friends to become allies, and some to become enemies. Nations were introduced. It seemed as though half the server went to the Vikings, and the other to Helvanthar. I, being the second member of Helvanthar (In-game, Nfmous was the co-leader). I still remember meeting Android by his desert, and walking into his abode, a water-cave on the desert hill. (I collapsed it on accident, my bad Android). So Bludwick was built. And I set off to create my own town just over the hill, named Nosaka.

I choose the land as it acted like an oasis. It was roughly a 100x100 spot of land, grassed over in the middle of a desert. Naturally generated in a hill shape, we began to destroy it. We flattened it out in a few days, and built what I like to call the Original wall. From which I still consider to be my best achievement in Minecraft. Once the original wall was built, we began building the inside, and such the world went on. Making friends with the SOUM (I think?), which was Staypuff, Spammuff, and others. We began to expand the walls, reaching the end of construction we soon realized that Helvanthar was inactive, and the best option was to create a new nation. Trying not to trespass on Helvanthar land, I passed the town down to another friend of mine, FashionMonkey, and he took over from there. And I set off to create the first Intentus.

We began construction on the first Intentus, getting quite a ways in when I hit a snag, and got grounded for roughly six months. I still kept contact with Spammuff, but lost contact with Staypuff with the others. It was a rough six months, and I did a few things I regret doing to a friend of mine, but I got through it. When I rejoined the server, a new superpower was constructed, and regrowing from its previous demise, The Grand. I joined on account of knowing Spammuff, and became friends with Nlewis, Pwolbart, and Connor. It wasn't until I gave them control of the previous Intentus capital, that Spammuff and i decided to ditch and create The_Pistoneers. Another beatiful creation, from which most of the credit goes to Unreal, you silly Croatian. And so 2.0 continued, Intentus was reconstructed, and then brought back down. And I regained control of original Nosaka. And then it ended.

Then came Revamped. And the Warlords. I was asked to join the Warlords by Android, and I accepted. Nothing much happened in Revamped for me, other than making friends with The Elfs, Making enemies with Nlewis, and Pwolbart, and creating many, many, enemies. The Warlords were never made present because of the short life that Revamped consisted of, and the new world came.

Thus, my current Kiwike story ends.

RE: Discovering Kiwike - Drew Coleman - 11-11-2012

A lot of you aren't going to like this, but i'll post anyway. [Small wall incoming, read with caution]

I joined early in Kiwike: Revamped, after Foster (Leowester), my school friend, told Kyle (Sammie287) about a server he played on. He said that there were towns, and lots of people went on and had wars and stuff, and it was an RP server. I had never done anything involving RP before (Excuse my horrible RP-ing from Revamped), so this seemed to be an exciting new adventure for me. Early on, I was introduced to Crash, and somebody else I forget in a Skype call, and Leo helped me set up a little base relatively close to his. I attempted to build a small Nomad town, which turned out relatively nicely, and I lived there for quite some time.

One day, Red11 happened upon my town. (I think that this would be the point where some of you begin to become angry.) He stole some of my things, and I gave chase, unknowingly, that he would lead me to Lavaaaaaaaa. Lava introduced me to Hyperion,, a rising nation which I was invited to join. I joined and became their "Ambassador." I later met Asdf and he allowed to assume some control over the nation. After a developing scandal that involved some theivery and deceit, I moved on and joined several other nations, finally later settling and creating my first real town, New Fazgrad, with Sammie. I was later accepted back into the Hyperion community, and promoted to Leader when Asdf. and Co. left for Solitude. I was basically an awful leader in the most useless nation, so I really didn't have much power. When Solitude was dissolved, I willingly gave Asdf. and Co. their nation, and moved on to Eil. Whitey (At the time) was a friend of mine, so he allowed me to stay in their human town, Amos. This was where I enjoyed most of my Kiwike experience. After my character was involved in a conflict with another town member (After a drunken outburst which was part of my AWFUL RP), I moved away, and never came back.

From then on, I lived in a tiny house with anything that I considered to have value. Later, DemonXerov (I forget his name, it sounds close) destroyed my bed, and killed me, so I was unable to get back for awhile. When I DID get back though, I found that all my things had been stolen by an unknown intruder. (One block thick sand) And so, realizing that kiwike was quickly dying, I hopped off the server for awhile, and played some other games.

I do enjoy the server, and all of the company I receive while playing. I really do enjoy talking and playing with the lot of you, even though I do seem angry and hypocritical at times (Sorry for that). But really, I love the server, and I only want to see it get better from here on out.

Thanks for all the great times guys.

RE: Discovering Kiwike - bvcxzmn - 11-11-2012

Ah, Cell and his walls of text. XD.

This is my story of coming to kiwike.

I first heard about Kiwike a long time ago. I met Geckosquid 2 years and 3 months ago, at the beginning of high school. when he joined kiwike, I heard him talking about it every once in a while. He would always praise how awesome it was. For some reason, I never actually went and joined, I don't know why. I didn't really play on any servers, maybe a few small servers here and there, but nothing really that I got into. I had been playing massive amounts of single player minecraft, doing various random things. I played a lot with Flan's plane's mod. Finally, one day, I decided I would Google Kiwike just because I was bored. I found it as the top link that came up, so I clicked on it. I read the getting started, etc... and decided it was actually pretty cool. That night I drafted up an application and put it on the forum. I also went on the server as a spirit and looked around a bit. I encountered Saera and iDie and talked to them a bit.

When I revised my application and finally got accepted the next day, my story on kiwike began. The first thing I did was wonder off in the wilderness and make an underground base. I got a full set of iron armor and then set off again in hopes of finding civilization. I didn't...

After yelling out on OOC that I was entirely lost and needed help (I didn't really know what RP was at the time), I encountered TheGreatNut. He took me to his town in the NA, and I made my first true house. I thought it was awesome that everything there was player-made and not griefed to all hell (which I had seen on several other servers that I had roamed around on). That was one of the major hook factors for me, that everything was player-run, player-made, etc... I thought the server was awesome.

Then, events happened, I moved, did things, wandered around, then I found Nut again. He was with his other friends, and they were getting ready to make a new nation in the desert. Nut asked me if I had skype, and I told him yes. At that time I had about 2 skype contacts. We began talking and I found out Nut was much younger than I thought he was. He decided he liked me, and gave me permission to start a town in his new nation.

We did many things from there, built many things, fought in many battles and raids, and constructed a new nation. As time moved on, I moved up farther and farther in the ranks of our nation. I went from a mere peasant, to a leader of a town, to second in command and head general in the nation (I was also about the only person who was any good at PvP in the nation), and eventually to head of the nation when nut killed off his character. Unfortunately, Nut killed off his character just as soon as revamped died. I was very sad by this because I had big plans for the nation.

A little while later, we were in the heat of trying to figure out how to fix Kiwike and save it from dying. That created many changes with the future of Kiwike, and one of the changes was the wiping and re-choosing of the mods. I applied for both a position in the RP server staff and normal Kiwike staff. I was fairly outmatched by iDie and Puff for the RP server mod position, but I was very happy to have been accepted as a mod for the "New Kiwike" server. From there things and stuff happened, and then we are where we are now.

That is my story of Kiwike.

RE: Discovering Kiwike - Android - 11-11-2012

Twas three nights before Christmas and the Android was on the search for a Minecraft server. After typing 'Minecraft Roleplaying Server' into ye olde Google Search bar, Kiwike 2.0's MCForum page naturally showed up. I applied, found the Kiwike forums, began posting away, and sent a PM to the mysterious owner, yottabyte. The PM simply consisted of me making my ambitions clear; another way of seeing it, however, is that I asked to become a Forum Moderator on my very first day.

So that's that, I played on the first temporary map and then the original 'Kiwike' map which was then followed by another temporary map. All throughout I made it a point to get myself known by a majority, and come that second temp map I founded the town Droidopolis (a remake of my town on the original Kiwike map) on a mountain close to the spawn. The town was griefed overnight, as expected, and it just so happened that two other citizens remained online and reported it to me. These citizens, one whose name I forgot and the other being the notorious Graftwijgje (who later left to make a server with our Dev Cilph), decided to make another town, but this one would be hidden underground. The name was agreed upon and we made a short trek to a pond and began digging. The name, it was decided, would be Hidden Droidopolis. At this point we selectively let people join and the underground hallways began to grow until I let in a couple bad cookies named NLewis and Pwolbart. If you're interested in the root of my shaky relationship with these to, it'd interest you to know that they promptly laid TNT throughout the cavern and Hidden Droidopolis, arguably the best town on this temporary map, had been destroyed. On this map I succeeded in making myself known to the point that I was finally granted moderator status, and after noting the much too wishful thinking of the prospective co-admin nFmous, 2.0 was released.

I'll wrap up by going over my most successful venture, the Republic of Helvanthar. The capital of this soon to be nation was Bludwick and was built in the opposite direction of its inevitable enemy, The Vikings, led by Scuba. As Cellular mentioned, he played a large role in both constructing the walls of the town as well as collapsing and destroying all that was good. More and more towns were added while we fought numerous wars, none so great as The Grand War, which was coincidentally fought against NLewis and Co. Time went on, the nation as a whole went in fairly large cycles of activeness and lack thereof, but all in all it was a ton of fun.

RE: Discovering Kiwike - Gira - 11-11-2012

A time long long ago , just before 1.8 was about to release everyone on the mcpvp forums were going crazy - everyone knew this would ruin PVP and as a result of this many people wrote entire threads and forums on the minecraft forums getting angry at the new system which was about to be implemented into their beloved world of minecraft fighting. A guy who was pretty cool to me named Chris decided to write a long hard dedicated thread and there were many rage battles between the hardcore builders and adventurers and the hardcore PVPers. A particular guy who I can't remember the name of posted a video explaining how PVP was so fun and wasen't just hacking a sword at a person. Halfway through this video the guy relogged and as he logged in I paused it for the split second to catch the IP. This IP of course was Kiwike.se and from there me and my team mate from MCPVP Tanthony43 decided to try this server out , as it looked pretty darn cool in the battles. They were almost non - systematic and looked fun as heck. So we joined and pretty much started up with Olympus , I remember us both trolling Olympus and that small town Eliza and Pavja were in and ruining treatys and peace and wrecking havoc. I got banned for 2 weeks and never came back :/ Then in the time of Revamped Crash messaged me on skype telling me about the new server and all that. And it soon progressed and I found a enjoyed it a lot. Until I got banned Poker face

Smiley Yep

RE: Discovering Kiwike - doggypwn - 11-11-2012

This thread is awesome Smiley

My story is sort of a mix between Android's and Cell's. It all started with the famous "X's Adventures in Minecraft", back when the game was most certainly alpha. I brought up the game with my brother, and he said that he'd been playing since the middle of indev. I found enough money to buy an account, back when it was like $5, and because I could put in the username 'doggypwn'. No idea why. Afterwards, and after a little digging into the minecraft site, I found out that infdev was much more stable than indev, and switched to it a few months before indev was outmoded. I played minecraft all the time, building huge castles and things in singleplayer, but the novelty started to wear off. Every time there was an update, I'd integrate new stuff into my creations and test new features (though redstone still vexes me to this day), and around the release of minecraft multiplayer, I noticed X slowed the progression of his let's play a bit, building up the the end after he got bored. That just made me want to go experience the game more for myself, and so I did when multiplayer finally came out. I joined a server the day after the update was released, and I was not exactly satisfied, so I went back to singleplayer for a while. After a couple major updates I tried my hand at playing with other people again, and found a nice server with a small community. I soon learned that half of them were very annoying, and the other half griefers/dupers. I left that server, and was informed about a week later that I was banned by an admin there for supposedly duplicating items, and felt no need to try and argue. I looked for a good server for ages, and eventually stopped on the minecraft forums. I looked around in server advertisements for at least an hour, and eventually found the old Kiwike thread, where I posted a whitelist application. Just to see if I had been whitelisted, as it had been a few days since I posted my app, I put in the server IP and found a temp server whose purpose I honestly don't remember, most likely switching over from hMod to Bukkit. And the rest is more or less history.
