Nerfing enderpearls - bvcxzmn - 11-21-2012
We all know it needs to be done, they are just way too OP. What do you feel about this? Should we nerf a vanilla element of Minecraft, or should we leave them in their current overpowered state? Please vote above and give feedback below, thanks!

if i would to nerf them i would make it so then when you use it you take a lot more damage.

In Minez they use them as grenades, not teleportation. maybe we could do something similar?

Wow, you guys responded almost faster than I could post this! My current idea for nerfing would be to make it so the distance thrown is significantly shorter (down to a couple blocks or something), but keep the suggestions coming!

Shortening the distance might promote glitching and things of that nature.
I like Spen's idea, and it works well on that server. Maybe we could take it one step further and have ender pearls start a small fire around where they land. Give it a medieval name, such as "Oil Pot" or "Powder Jar," and it should fit right in.

Just make it so if you throw an ender ball into an enemy town, the person who threw it will be rocketed 400 feet into the air.

Explosions would be cool. 400 feet would be overkill (instant death), but being able to throw TNT would be great. No block destruction, though.

Not a bad idea, but they would need to have much less power than a splash potion or it will make those totally worthless. Maybe it could be somewhat similar to what bows and arrows were back in the day, but with a little aoe

I was thinking, either that or we just disable them. Or maybe it launches you into the air in the direction your throw them instead of teleporting you (when throwing them into towns). I'm sure NoCheat would find a way to mess that up though.
