Major lag on the new map - blueberry376 - 04-10-2011

Hi, recently kiwike made a transition from an old server host to a new one in Germany. Now, on the old temp map I could connect and play lag free on both the old server and the new Germany based server. However, as soon as the new map for kiwike 2.0 came, I have been having a lot of trouble. I live in Australia, but that shouldn't matter because I could play happily on the temp map even after we transferred to the new server. It isn't my computer, as I just got a new one and it is really great for any other game. Don't know what the problem is, because my internet also works fine for other servers and anything else I try to do :\.

EDIT: Would just like to add that noone else seems to be having nearly as much trouble as I am.
EDIT 2: It it helps, this is the error I get most "internal exception: java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: recv failed"

Everyone seems to be having trouble, I myself live in NZ, and the link can either be going through Aussie or Hawaii.
I have noticed that sometimes the euro guys get issues when I dont, and the same with the US guys, though, with 2.0 everyone got the issues.
Things to try when you seem to be lagging more than others are rebooting your router, and or rebooting your pc, incase its getting updates or something.
The router reboot will get a new ip (assuming you dont have a static) and it'll flush the tables. sometimes the table get corrupt which can cause major issues.

I blame video on demand and VOIP for todays slowing internet.
and spy software, which is government controlled and most deny they do it. which is a lie. they all do.

Thanks for the reply. It's just annoying because I have 2 minute chat lag, cannot destroy blocks and after 5 minutes I will usually crash with different error messages each time. The one thing I havn't tried is rebooting my router, so I'll do that now. And lol at the last part, I totally agree.

EDIT: Didn't work, oh well. I'll just wait a few days and see if it clears up in the mean time.

The server has become much faster now and you should probably try getting out of the main city of Mavenholm. It seems that, due to all the things onscreen, the game gets a little slow. And if you're playing minecraft after running multiple windows, expect lag. No idea why it does so but minecraft likes to be really slow after running your computer for about an hour on anything before you play.

I have already left, and it still lags. This seems to be the only MC server doing it to me. Tomorrow Im gonna go over to a friends house and see if it works on their internet.

Sounds very strange. What's your ping?

RE: Major lag on the new map - blueberry376 - 04-11-2011

If the ping is the P when you hold down f3, it jumps between 40-120, sometimes going down and sitting on 20 for a while. If I stand still it goes from 0-5. Dunno how good that is for Minecraft.

Lag is making the server completely unplayable. Needs to be fixed by tonight/tomorrow. Would hate to see the server fail over something so fixable.

RE: Major lag on the new map - Android - 04-11-2011

It's fine usually. Every once in a while it acts up which is pretty annoying.

If you're on Windows, you can ping the server by pressing the windows key+R and type in "cmd". When you are in the oldschool looking window, type in "ping kiwike.se". Post results here.

I've been talking to other people using the same host and they have some lag problems in North America too. Can't do much about it!
