Single block towers - Reshe - 04-27-2011
People are using single block towers to access Cornerstone. There is currently one outside the gate by the welcome sign that needs to be block checked, as well as another which was more of an extension along the stairs by the gate which was made so that someone could jump onto a fence and enter the city which may or may not be allowed but it breaks the principle of the rule. As there are no mods or admins on currently, I wanted to report it here so that someone can check it. If they are destroyed tomorrow, I will simply point out which block it was.

Probably me, this. You see, I built that to get in, and I entered through the roof of a building with the full intent of tearing it down upon my departure. However, I entered a house via the roof and got trapped, since 1.5 doesn't allow you to go up spaced ladders, and Towny prevented me from going out the front door. I finally /mavenholm'd, but had to go before I was able to make my way back. If Kubrick checked, I probably got temp banned already (which would be very unfortunate), but I thought it necessary to explain that this breaking of the rules was unintentional.
I REALLY hope I'm not banned for this unfortunate incident...
Just FYI: At the beginning of my previous post, when I said "tearing it down", I meant the tower, not the building XD

Agreed with Gecko, one or two of those may be by me. Those towers are what i would say almost not against the rules, but they are at the same time. These towers are used to get into cornerstone because it is not protected everywhere, which is not our fault, but thats like saying you guys are building bridges/towers to get into Nosaka, and it's against the rules because i don't have protection up. But, if it is get against the rules, i had full intention to tear mine down as-well, but got chased by Pwol and had to /t spawn. Sorry bout that.

Consider this a warning. No Temp-Bans were issued as I was going to talk to guilty parties In-game and issue the Verbal warning then.
Building single towers like that, to me, is a way of circumventing the whole point of having walls. It is, in a sense, an exploit. If you can't get into a city, because they have securities/Defenses/Guards, that is the point. Just move a long and wait for a better opportunity.
The way the dirt towers were set up was completely unrealistic, so that even furthers the point of not doing it. Now, if someone got creative with ladders I couldn't really say to much about that. *Nudge Nudge*
I expect another person to fess up and admit it, too.

Building bridges is realistic. Building a full seize seige tower that extends into the city would be realistic. But 1 block towers are not realistic nor are they even partially allowed. Yotta even said the next time he finds one its an instant ban, and that was almost a week ago so its nothing new. If people are doing it to get into nosaka then have them reported, period.

Really, it would be nice if there was an agreeded upon schematic for a tower that people can build outside of walls that would give them access over the walls. Something like a 4x4 tower with stairs in the middle and the structure has to be made of wood. That way everyone is trying to find the easiest, cheapest, dirtiest way to get over a wall; which will eventually lead us back to people using these 1 block towers.

See then that ruins the whole Protection thing. I can completely tear down a hill beside nosaka, not even protect the walls so people can't jump them, and expect to be protected.... That ruins the whole you need this many people to protect the walls. Ill make sure to get on the hill ASAP.

A there by three tower should be able to be built with ladders in the middle to allow for someone to acces the top of a wall to make it over.

ok so what? A 6x6 siege tower allowing us to get into the walls is ok? this pvp/nogriefing rules are starting to conflict and confuse me.
