What is Kiwike missing in your opinion! - yottabyte - 06-01-2011

I just want to get some discussion going, I'm all for some improvements. Just get it out there, what is there that you dislike?

Is there anything you feel would be awesome to put in Kiwike?
Anything you would like to remove?

To get your imagination flowing, lets hypothetically say you get full on control and you can basically do whatever you want (no client side stuff tho) with the server.
Give me some crazy ideas.

We like the town ideas, what it's missing, is long time players. we need more
People just come on for 1 day, and then just leave, So many towns left abandoned,
so many nations disbanded for inactivity.

Also we need more structure, Yeah the nation stuff is cool, but a tweak here and there, would be delightfull
Such as the warground idea, where did that go, and is it still in development?

So, what would you do to get those more active players, that's what we're looking for here.

And what do you mean about more structure..?

I think he means that people are making nations and towns, then going inactive and they just sit there, they take up space. Maybe Nations aren't such a great idea, but cities sound just fine. Cornerstone seems to be doing the best, but then Helv is slowly trying to get back in the game as well. Tullius is crumbling so much that Gecko had to make NR the capitol. And then we have Intentus starting up with what it seems like 2 towns starting. So all in all I think he means that these Nations need to be more controlled and if not that they maybe should be removed. I don't know, I'm just throwing this out there, there is too much space being held up for other potential cities that are in place of abandoned ones.
Also, for an idea..

I think that we need to make Mavenholm more active. Not as in make people live there and such, but like maybe make it the center of trade. Maybe we can make it so shops are only allowed in Mavenholm? It might seem like a bad idea at first but that will make the spawn town more active rather then spawning and walking out and never going there again unless you don't set your home because you died and spawned back in Mavenholm. So maybe we can integrate Mavenholm more with the people and the server rather then it just being the spawn city.

War needs to be added. Movecraft would be really nice (perhaps make licenses contingent on real-world donations). VIP plots should be removed. Citizens should be brought back (that mod has grown so much in the past month) with traders, perhaps even gaurds that can be bought by towns once the people at citizens get that going (to make up for the lack of VIP). Caftbook would be nice too.

Other than the VIP plots that people have been using I can't think of anything that has to go. The server is really quite good.

RE staypuffs mavenholm suggestion. I think that arena battles with prizes would be really nice, that and some way of temporarily relocating ones spawn to the arena so that one can have a couple dozen battles without traveling to mavenholm every time.

War should be added. I don't like the wargrounds idea, though, because you can't really set up defences before the battle, and you might 'lose' the war and your land withought really ever fighting over it... I don't know, I'm just Me, and I built a castle, and I don't want to lose a war and possibly my castle and never defend my castle personally if it is in a war.

We need to repost on minecraft forums i think =P
Also we need to remove all chest protection. Including blocks on top of chests =P
War.
XD

RE: What is Kiwike missing in your opinion! - Cell - 06-01-2011

I would have to agree to all the above except for a few.
The VIP plots should stay.
Chest protection is iffy, it adds to the Roleplaying with it gone, but i don't like the idea of not being able to defend my chest when i'm not on because i am in a different timezone.
Movecraft, iffy again. The license may work, but the vehicles look weird going in directions.
What I think Kiwike needs is still more enforcement. Not in mod wise, with 1.6, but the rules itself. I know Kubrick said he was doing that, but they never got published. Then people argue that you break blocks if its a diamond block, and so on, but it doesn't clarify that in /rules.
War would be nice, Not just the Wargrounds, but War in the cities without the griefing or taking over. I'm not sure what you could possibly do for the winners, such as a gold prize, or etc.

RE: What is Kiwike missing in your opinion! - yottabyte - 06-01-2011

I see a lot of people want war, and the wargrounds are close to finished but they have been put on hold for a while for several reasons. Number one would be lack of motivation seeing as this was mainly focused on nation war but no nations are actually fighting afaik. Second is that I have no idea how to finish it off, we still don't have any price for winning a war/game.

I'd be glad to code something else or finish up this project but I need detailed suggestions and not just "we need war".

RE: What is Kiwike missing in your opinion! - Android - 06-01-2011

As far as Kubrick's rules go, they're more or less close to being finished. If he doesn't get back on soon, we can take over the job and release them.
