Hello everyone. We all love 2.0. I have some awesome memories from it, but it's unfortunately time to say good bye now. Most texts on the website are being written over by Revamped things. The actual 2.0 Minecraft server is also going further down in server hardware priorities, with the slots count and allocated memory slowly decreasing. I'm not sure whether we will even update it to 1.1 before the server is shut down.

It will most likely be taken down next week. Write up some memories and cry in this thread.
Oh, and take some time to get a look at stuff one last time
Hello Kiwike!

As many are now aware of, we've been hard at work on something new, something better, and something much more intuitive in relations to our new capabilities with the final release of Minecraft last weekend. This new project that we call 'Kiwike: Revamped', has been in progress for over five months, and had finally been announced to the staff on July 7th. Over those long five months we've seen countless feats performed by our players on the current map, including the rise of a few nations, the fall of a few nations, and quite a few wars. Although we love to indulge over what we've accomplished, we found that it is finally time to move on.

SPAMMY WAS ERE

Although the admins had already been hard at work, the problem first arose publicly with StayPuff's post, asking whether we'd be able to change over maps to include all of the new features that minecraft would include. The ignorant would simply have us switch maps then and there, out of boredom perhaps, but we sought to wait until Minecraft had finally been finished so we could use all aspects to our advantage. That day arrived not long ago.

In Kiwike: Revamped, we'll be seeing a complete change. This means that anything that had happened on the current map is gone, only to remain in the deep archives of the Kiwike Server. There will be no transferring of lore, towns, Tullius, nations, characters, RP events, etc. Revamped will feature a fresh start for all players, with a new focus on role-play. We're going to be enforcing the creation of your own character's RP background via a graylist, which also allows guests to log on and check things out before taking the plunge into our universe. If your lore doesn't match our expectations, we're going to ask you to rewrite it.

Our new map will also be featuring quite a few custom plugins that Yottabyte and I have been working on for quite a while. Yotta the coding, and myself the main ideas. One of these plugins that I'm personally most excited about is that of Territories, a brand new town system that will allow us to leave Towny behind in the dust where it will no longer cause us any problems. If I ever replied to your request to enhance towny with "Towny Sucks," you now know why.

Hold on now! Before you go and make your town applications in advance, let us rule out some guidelines. For one, towns will now require five citizens in advance. The towns must also have already been built and approved by an admin. Finally, to create a town, you're going to have to do a bit of coordinating. Three towns are required to create a nation, and these three towns are going to have to be in the same biome, that can be claimed through a new feature of our Territories plugin. This qualifies for most every case, unless a certain territory has been won through war. The creation of these towns and nations will only have to be payed for via your lore. If it truly makes sense and fits together, they will be created with ease, at no extra cost.

To almost go hand in hand with our new system of civilization are Ages. These ages are going to be defined by the addition of certain plugins, and by the way the game is played. The First Age can be seen as a dark one, where not much is known, but bonds are formed. Virtually everyone at this point remains a nomad, but they are not stopped from creating smallish, eye-pleasing villages, castles, or various structures. From this we hope to find the groups of players that will form their RP bonds to continue in the next few ages. When The Second Age starts, the Territories plugin is initially added, and when the first towns are in the application process. The Third Age marks the true 'bloom' of civilization we're expecting to see, when the first nations are already booming with industry and signs of war are imminent.

Now, like I said earlier, there are multiple custom plugins that have been in the process of creation for these past five months, and they will come to light in due time. The function of this thread is only to give our players a small sample, and hopefully to get you all excited for what's to come.

Thank you for taking interest in Kiwike's future, and feel free to pose any questions, although I may not be at the liberty to answer all of them.

Ladies and Gentlemen of Kiwike!

We are open for new staff applications.

If you wish to join the ever so awesome Kiwike staff, fill in this application and PM it to both me and Android. We will then discuss the applications and make decisions. Old applications won't be looked at so send a new one if you want to.
Please consider your application before-hand. Being a game moderator is a pretty tough job, you have to be active on the server and be able to put up with the various players without freaking out.

We currently have a few positions open:

Game Moderator - Helps players and makes sure everyone are pleased on the Minecraft server

Forum Moderator - Clean up, lock old threads, delete spam, make sure threads are in the correct forum and all that good stuff

Wiki Moderator - Help out with the wiki, organize pages and categories, help with removing the endless spambots, fix threads and ban misbehaving editors

General PR - Be a face outwards for Kiwike. Help with news posts, updating beginner guides and such, (make youtube guides for the server?), help organize server lists and such

Whitelisting (minor, can't be the only thing you do) - Read through applications every so often and add the players to the whitelist

Gardener (minor, can't be the only thing you do) - Help with building official Kiwike buildings and structures for various uses.

You may choose a few positions, but it's very unlikely that you get say, both forum and game mod.

Please copy the entire form
It will probably crash every now and then though. Rules are basic, no griefing or things like that. Admins will be cheating to get items. Yep.

You can get the 1.8 minecraft.jar here: http://assets.minecraft.net/1_8-pre/minecraft.jar

Put it in your .minecraft/bin folder. If you need a tutorial, you should probably just keep playing on 1.7 for a couple of days. Only for beta testing the beta.
There are some ops on the server that you probably don't know who they are. This is actually a shared private server owned by me and a couple of irl friends, so naturally they get op.
Because of the recent attacks on the server, we have updated the rules regarding KiwiShips theft.

Quote:6.1 Stealing ships is NOT ok
If you are caught stealing a ship, you will be banned. Ship theft is the act of placing a new control sign on someone else's ship and fly away with it.

We believe that letting people steal ships creates more grief on the server, and no one wins in the long run. We wish for everyone to have a good time, seeing your hard work stolen and demolished is not the definition of a good time.

This rule change takes place instantly.

On the subject of KiwiShips, I'm close to done with the first major update including ship boosters, lots o' bug fixes, something to fill the fourth line and more that I can't remember. Yay.
