Kiwike 2.0 - Builders needed!

We are looking for experienced builders right off the bat, we are going to be building the main city of the server, name will be disclosed at a later date.

Everyone will get a chance, each user has a 48hr time limit of inactivity until you are kicked off the build server and blacklisted until 2.0 is released.

We are only looking for trusted people who will not leak information and be of a very high skill level of building.

However, all donors of any amount of money will be allowed to access the server at all times and will only be kicked/banned off the building team if he/she is doing something of misconduct.

Rules of building!:

Do not in anyway build outside the cities border to try and gain items on the intial release!
Do not disrespect or start fights with your team members.
DO NOT LEAK INFORMATION OR SCREENSHOTS.
Tell all your friends about 2.0 and the opportunity to contribute to the main city!

All people will be put into teams of 2-3 people. We have split up the city in "Districts" I will ask each person which spot they want to work in and you will be asigned to that team. Why? Organization makes 2.0 come faster!

So guess what guys... Build faster, get 2.0 up!

BUILDING WILL START ON TUESDAY OR WENSDAY NIGHT -5GMT!
If you are accepted in the first group of BUILDERS, you will get a PM with the appropriate information and things you need to know, do not reply to these PM's please!

Current state of the server

Good evening players

Well, as you already know, the current server is chaos. But I like it. Everyone are free to PvP, there's no such thing as RDM in this current state. So go ahead, kill that guy and take his delicious armor, it's ok.
If you don't want to be killed and griefed, go hide in the mountains or just go far away from spawn and build your house there. Building close to spawn right now is like asking to get robbed, killed and griefed.

16/1 New griefing rules:
You may only grief if it helps you.

Stealing, killing for stuff is allowed.
Tearing up someones wall is allowed. (Just a 2x2 hole, you don't need to destroy the whole wall.)
Ripping up someones iron block floor to use the iron is allowed.
Tearing down someones house if you feel like it ruins your gameplay is allowed. Eg. you have a little cave where you live, someone build a house outside your cave. You may then tear it down, because it's a threat to your security.
No fire is tolerated, you may use it but if you do not put it out and we see it we will check logs and you will be banned. (This is because it creates loads of lag for the server, because notch did not make this resource friendly.)
Do not go into someones house and ruin it for fun, you may remove blocks to find hidden chests but you must replace them if they are not valuable.

Griefing just to be an ass is not allowed.
Don't just tear down a random house or put it on fire. This stuff will get you banned. If we ask you "why did you destroy X's house?" you need to have a good answer. (Don't lie because we already know and this just makes it worse.

/EDIT : If you have any troubles with greifing, get on the forums and PM Moderators. Do not what so ever complain directly to YOTTA, thats why there is more people that are moderators for this. He has things to worry about IRL and for the SERVER. Your just making it worse if you whine and cry to him 99.99% of the time.

We are as right now hosting it 100% vanilla, not even with Bukkit.
Tomorrow or within a couple of days we will enable a newer version of Bukkit with some basic stuff like a whitelist, mods features and local chat will be back.
Later on we will add things like lava and fire nerfing, as more plugins are created for Bukkit. The "final" state of this server will be kind of like how the old server was.

Oh and a quick note to newer players, sometime later (give it 1-2 months) we will introduce Kiwike 2.0. It is a new and unique way of Minecraft RP and we hope you will like it! We will once everything is done and it's ready for launch start over on a new pre-generated map. Just wanted to get that cleared out. And I have to go to bed now, school starts tomorrow so I won't be as active.

The big surprise everyone has been waiting for is HERE!

Thanks to all the recent donations we have gotten, we were able to buy a harder, better, faster, stronger server! This will remove all the recent lag issues we've had! (yay) We will be changing over to the new server on January 2nd!

[Contest] Storyline

I've only been rping for about a year...
None of the rp servers for any games I played had a storyline, it was like a create-your-own adventure type thing.

We are trying to do some serious RP it seems, a good setup and the like. Not a we RP as in hey come help me mine, and we build a town and then sell stuff?

But not so limited as to where you pick a job.

We want it to be like your living in a story but your not written to do one sole thing in the server.

I'm looking for the best I mean the best lore for this server as possible.
I want anyone and everyone to try I mean atleast try.

It's a contest the prize is a few days premium ;] (Aslong as yotta approves) if not then 1000 forum kiwi and 1000 in game kiwi + 50 rep.

The map reset is looking grim to former players, I am here to put in place an alternative.

Many people want the reset, I for one do. Yet I only want it for one sole reason. Expansion and less clutter.

See this is the problem we have, if you look at the map on the site you will see almost all the towns are within a 20 block radius of kiwi or another town.

THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM AND MISTAKE.

We should have put in place a system where expansion was limited to a block radius from the original establishment and from other settlements.

What you need to do:
If your current town is close to kiwi, or another town you must merge. I'm not talking 100 blocks away, but if you can see the other town from your town on medium view distance I believe you should merge.
DO NOT BUILD WITHIN 300 block radius of any TOWN/CITY!
EXPLORE FAR AND THEN SET YOUR CITY DOWN.

Disclaimer: I know this sounds harsh but it's really dumb to have 5 cities right next to eachother and they are all under a differn't control.

I think we will start issueing building permits for anything bigger than a 3 story house. These are some options other than a complete wipe.

Map reset soon?

So the discussion has been... discussed? around the forums. Some of us are thinking of starting over on a new map. I believe that if we do this, it will happen sometime early January.

What is your opinion on this? I would love to see reasons to why or why not!
So far this is what we've got!

Reasons for:

All the duped items will be removed
Everyone start over fresh
The starting kiwi will be much lower, like 50, and you will be able to exchange gold for kiwi.
A new and better town system will be added
Easier to manage chest locking system and less resource eating.
The current map has towns like 30 blocks from each other. Not as fun.
The map WILL be reset at some point, may it be 1 day, 1 month, 1 year. It will be reset anyway. You can't have the same map forever.
We will have an awesome, unique RP system. It will be like. Awesome.

Reasons against:

People have worked hard for their buildings, towns, stuff.
Don't want to lose all the progress

Sorry everyone, I have to leave for a while. See is what happened was yesterday I was playing and chatting, had an auction running...

Then I smell burning plastic, SO I JUMP UP! Start smelling around... Traced it back to my computer. (My heart dropped...) I cut it off immediately and continued to smell inside the case.

Turned out to be the Power supply was over voltaging/watting past its 350w maximum. I've been doing this since almost day 1.

I know for sure my mom is getting me a power supply for christmas only problem is I don't know if the Power supply shorted out or if it just burnt it self up.

IF. It shorted, it could have burned the main board, ram, pci slots, and so many other unspeakable horrors.

I will be on the forums, on my girlfriends laptop (it cant play minecraft), I'll hope to see you guys around the 26th-31st.

If not I'll let you guys know.

[In English that meant: My computer caught on fire I hope it didn't burn everything]

The server is from now on whitelist only! We decided this is the best way too keep hackers, griefers, duplicators and general douchebags away. You cannot yet apply for the whitelist officially, we will get to making a topic on the Minecraft forums early this week. Patience, people!
