The Followers of Everflame

It was a normal day on Kiwike. kbrown53 was roaming about, and suddenly something caught his eye. One of his trees was on fire! As he approached it, he saw that this was no ordinary fire; a leaf block was ignited, but the fire did not spread, nor did it consume the block it rested upon. Gazing into the flame, kbrown53 felt Notch's presence, and knew what he must do. He was destined to find the sacred land of the Everflame and build upon its holy grounds a small colony. He set out, and eventually found the place.

Soon, geckosquid and trewqpoiuuy set out on a pilgrimage to the Everflame to take a picture of it in all its glory. They were successful in their endeavor:

After they returned from their journey, kbrown53 erected the Church of Everflame, adorned in many places with the symbol of a flame atop a green block:

Then, a statue was made in the Everflame's honor. Daily sacrifices are made to the flame, as shown here:

geckosquid then went on another small quest to find wool. At one point, he saw a flame in the distance. He went to investigate, and saw the impossible. Before his eyes was yet another Everflame! As he watched it, geckosquid could feel the presence of Notch coursing through his veins, and knew that he too was a prophet of the Everflame.

We of the Everflame believe in the holy power of the Flame, and are humbled by the presence of the god Notch that courses through it. We live simple lives, untainted by anger or greed. We are the Followers of Everflame.

The Legionaries

The legionaries are a group of people dedicated to building and defending, willing to fight if necessary. We will be building large and amazing buildings in our towns, constructed after buildings in Rome. The people will live peaceful with all other nations but if the time comes for war, wether its an ally under attack or someone invading, we will try to help and fight. We will have large cities with large markets and huge defensive structures. Large, long walls and tall towers defending the cities. We will have different professions for all types of people, but the main thing being building.

Sorry for the short explanation, but its just a introduction. I will expand on my concept for my nation and the story behind it. I am at a apple store writing this so I cant write to much in depth. Hope you guys like it and message me if you have any ideas and or want to join up!

Note: This is meant to tell a story. The fact that it also explains the existence of some minecraft creatures and the origninal discovery of TNT and redrock is a minor goal.

The Beginning of the End

There once was an island to the far northeast of all known lands. This island, named Withering Isle, was home to a highly advanced society of people who called themselves the Ellyllon. These people had gathered together and created a nation based on science, exploration, and mining, calling it Impassil. This nation expandedbeyond the small, meagre island that they originated from and quickly expanded even farther northwestward.

Finding a vastly larger island, with greater receources, they all agreed to move there and expand their kingdom, re-setting the national capital in the eastern portion of that great island. They reformed their kingdom into an Empire, and named their capital Imperial City.

Some time had passed after the massive emmigration to the new island, named Impassil Isle after the name of their new Empire, and the people had grown restless. No new major discoveries had been made, neither scientific nor geographic. To make matters worse, large spiders had appeared throughout the countryside during the night.

The Emperor, whose name has henceforth been forgotten from history due to unknown circumstances, then ordered the first Impassilian Army to be formed and mobalized. Armed with the best iron and diamond weapons and armor that Impassil could forge, they quickly mopped up the creatures that seemed to spawn out of nowhere each night.

However, despite the discovery of these new creatures, the people still were not satisfied. In fact, they grew angrier still, due to the hated oppression that the newly formed army brought. It seemed as if a revolt was in the makings.

But a revolt never came, for a series of unforseen consequences took place all at once.

An Impassillian expedition had been sent into a large cave only a day before the army was created. These miners had found a new substance that carried energy like a current. Naming it redstone after its color, they brought it back to Imperial City, to be tested. They then went back into the cave, continueing to mine untill an alternative exit could be found on the other side.

Making their way towards the exit, they came upon a hellish place. The ground seemed to call out to them in a foreboding language. Shouts and screams carried on the wind towards them, incomprehensible due to the distance and dialect of the speakers. But the miners, with lust for greater riches in their hearts, were determined to find treasures in this strange new land. they ignored the sence of impending doom, and trudged onwards to what looked like flames on the horizon.

They came upon an embattled village. WOmen and children ran in the streets, seeking shelter. Dead bodies laid burning in the street center. Men sharpened their swords and redied their bows. Yet, no adversary was in sight. When asked what was wrong, the people in the village spoke only giberish to the Impassillians, either due to their language or insanity.

But, as the moon fell beneath the horizon, all caos ensued. The bodies that had been burning rose up with new life and attacked their former neighbors. Screaming in terror, the miners ran back ot their mine. Little diod they known that their fate was already sealed...
This also includes any colonies the guild creates for the nation inside or outside its borders, although outside will take work due to no proper title other than colony or nomadic settlement. The colonization plan is to get a minimum of 6 people on a charter to explore new areas inside or outside the nation's boundaries. The second part of the plan is to build a main chapel or town hall, then build a system of basic cobble roads, a public mine, main square, trading depot, and then housing for individual residents. Height of buildings will be determined by if allowed, the city counsel or national congress or whatever it ends up as. Supply lines for towns is mainly just doing monster hunting, mining in large amounts if needed, building, and obtaining rare items such as saddles and apples. Also includes farming and policing (basic, nothing like being a national militia)
Post here to sign up, and join the nation of Helvanthar! Link to national forum in my signature DDDDD

I'm thinking of creating a kind of mall in Kiwike 2.0 where anybody can start up a shop and sell their goods called Kiwik-E Mart. It would be the go-to place for shopping, and have a main plaza with multiple levels and different areas for various kinds of items. The only price for having your own store in it would be a stack of sand and 16 coal (to aid in the construction of New Rapture; I assure you that this is not for personal gain). Would people be interested in the idea of a mall like this?

Want to participate in the deadliest tournaments ever put on? Of course you do! Come Kiwike 2.0, once a month The Kiwike Games will pit 6 players against each other in 9 life-threatening challenges that would make grown men wet their pants. Race through an obstacle course rigged with sinister traps, go on a frantic scavenger hunt where you can kill other contestants on sight, make your way through mazes that will threaten your sanity, play an epic 6-man game of Spleef with lava waiting below, engage in brutal hand-to-hand combat, be a contestant in a trivia game where the penalty for a wrong answer is an arrow in your back, go on a mad dash to bring a flag back to your base before being slaughtered for it, wage free for all bow and arrow wars in significant locations all over Kiwike, and struggle to survive on a desert island while completing goals before other contestants. The prizes? Riches. Serverwide renown. A shiny gold block trophy with your name on it that will be placed wherever you want it. If you're interested in either being one of the six brave contestants or a sponsor for the games, or even a spectator of these epic games of epicly epic epicness, then read on!

Obstacle Course: Perilous jumps over pits of lava, running to get to the door fast enough after flicking a timed switch, navigating minefields with pressure pads and TNT, etc.

Maze: Pretty self-explanatory. It would be designed to mess with the contestant's mind. So far, a glass area and a lava area are planned.

Scavenger Hunt: Players will begin in front of their own hallway with 6 iron doors keeping them from getting through, one after another. They will each be armed with a stone sword. Scattered throughout the server will be 6 chests, each of them with 6 levers in them. It will be each of the contestants' goal to retrieve one lever from each chest, which they will use to open the iron doors. at the beginning, each player will be given a hint that sends them each to a different chest. At each chest will be a sign with another hint telling the contestant where to find the next chest. To keep the game fun, these hints will be rather revealing.

Contestants CAN:
- Kill other players, setting them back and/or stealing their levers
- Place the levers next to each of the iron doors
- Ask the audience for help ONCE if they are stuck on a hint
- Take levers from a chest even if they find it on accident

Contestants CAN'T:

- Place blocks
- Destroy blocks
- Repeatedly change the render distance to see through walls
- Use any kind of hack (duh)
- Destroy another contestant's placed levers
- Go down another player's hallway
- Talk unless they are asking help from the audience (that includes private messaging)
- Follow another player at the beginning; everyone's chests WILL be different directions, so if you're following someone else, then you're doing it wrong
- Make your own lever

To prevent cheating, we will position a person at each chest (crouched so their names can't be seen) to make sure everybody visits every chest.

Spleef: An epic 6-man, 7-round free for all showdown on a 20X20 court. Each player will be provided with an iron shovel and will choose their starting position (they must be at least 8 blocks away from the other contestants). At the end of each round, the last man standing will be given a point. Did I mention there will be lava below instead of water?

Arena fights: Players will fight all of the other contestants, so there will be a total of 15 rounds. Each fight will be 1 on 1, with the contestants starting at opposite ends of the arena. They will be armed with nothing but their fists, because real men use what they were born with. That's totally not what she said... Anyways, the victor of each 1 on 1 fistfight to the death will receive a point. If there is a tie, then there will be a final round to settle it.

Trivia: Simple, right? Wrong! The Kiwike Games are designed to be as brutal and deadly as possible, and Trivia's no different. I (the host) will stand in front of 6 switches, each connected to an arrow dispenser behind each of the contestants. If a player answers incorrectly, then I will reach for their switch. The questions will get increasingly difficult; the last living contestant wins! This should totally be a real game show...

Free for All CTF: This ain't your garden-variety ol' sissy kid's game of Capture the Flag. This is a high-stakes, intense bloodbath where yer life is on the line. Badass accent aside, this is how the game will work. The area of play will be some unknown forest somewhere. Each contestant will begin at a different area of the forest. Their goal will be to bring the piece of paper resting on top of a hill in the center of the starting points back to their chest at their starting point. Whenever a player scores, they will be rewarded a point. Then, the item will be placed back on top of the hill and a new round will start. The first player to 5 points wins! Each contestant will be given iron swords in their starting chest with which to steal the flag from other players.

Bow and Airrowsoft (C wut I did thar? ):

Each contestant will begin next to their own box with bows, arrows, and a lot of paper. At the beginning of the match, they will remove a bow and a bunch of arrows. When I say go, they will wage a free for all bow and arrow war through the streets of a city willing to host the match. The last man standing wins! There will be 7 rounds, taking place in multiple locations across Kiwike. The player who comes out on top in the most matches wins!

Island Survival: This is by far the most time-consuming game. In the spirit of The Yogscast, each player is placed on his own 10X10 island made of sand with no items and two trees. They are given a set of objectives that must be completed; whoever finishes them first wins! We will equally place minerals under each of the islands to avoid any unfair advantage in the way of mineral finding. The objectives are:

- Create a 5X5, two-floor house with an infinite water pool, 10 windows and a brick fireplace

- Write the letters "SOS" in smooth stone

- Have 2 trees remaining after completing the other goals

Well, that's it! If you want to sponsor/compete in/help build The Kiwike Games, comment below, or PM me.

A Formal Appology

Many of you who were on this past Friday witnessed a mild argument between me and SirSuba reguarding the political prowess of the Vikings. Shortly after that, I attempted to recruit someone who I thought was not as of yet recruited by any one nation. However, as SirSuba and others have brought to my attention, this person was indeed a member of the Vikings. As you could imagine, this ticked Suba off pretty bad, and I felt like an ass.

I then preceded to log off and mess around on these very forums for a bit. When I logged back on, I found my chest gone in my room. I didn't have much of a problem with that, as it contained mostly useless stuff, and I thought nothing of it. Then SirSuba followed up on this by flaunting the fact that I had so stupidly left 3 gold bars in my chest. This was one short of being able to make a watch, and I had spent the past month looking for gold in various places. I became highly agitated, aggrivated all the more by the fact that SirSuba so kindly made a suggestively-themed sculpture on the top of his house. I then went on a rampage, attempting to kill Suba and recking the greater interior of his house, including a bit of the exterior in my frantic acts. I found my chest with my items in it, and then took back what was mine, leaving his house in ruins.

Later, Nar (with a pickaxe and shovel from me) repaired his house, and I added a door, but I still fealt bad. But when looking back in my house, I discovered that my note block (serving as a doorbell) was gone, and my sign above my door read 'My lol coptor sais lol. Back off blackrock.', and didn't feel too bad anymore, but still guilty and dirty for trying to recruit someone who I should have known was a member of the Vikings.

Therefore, I have decided to formally appologize. I wish to ask forgiveness for the slandorous things of which I spoke of about the Vikings. I apparently did not research the government and politics of said government well enough. I also ask forgiveness for attempting to recruit a member of a nation. I do, however, ask that SirSuba present more information reguarding their political structure, so as to prevent these things from occuring a seccond time.

Wanted: Builders for New Rapture!

All right! I've given the subject some thought, and I've decided that having an admissions price seems rather counterproductive. Rather, I have decided that the first four people to help me build will become the managers of the four districts (mining, commercial, residential, and creative) as compensation for their help. It should be noted that YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A MANAGER IF YOU HELP BUILD. So, if you would like to help build New Rapture and manage one of the four districts, either reply to this post or shoot me an email at geckosquid@gmail.com telling me your IGN and what district you would like to manage. But dont do so until you've READ THE ENTIRE POST!!! Also, you don't have to live in New Rapture if you help; however, you must be part of the Nation of Helvanthar or a nomad.

-----------------------------

Here are the descriptions for what each district manager will do:

Creative District (where people build random creations):

You determine how much space someone is allowed to build in, as well as what is appropriate to be built. If you deem a creation inappropriate, you can give its creator a warning to take it down. If he refuses, then you can do the honors. This manager has to be the most trustworthy; he'll have to exercise this power only when it is appropriate to exercise. Also, he can expand the district as he pleases. This is the one district without a set shape, so its manager can get creative (C wut I did thar? ).

Commercial District (where all the shops are at): TAKEN

This is an easy one to build, but a hard one to manage. It's a long 4x4 hallway with shops branching off of it. It's your job to determine the maximum size of a shop, as well as how much the owner should pay to expand it. You must also make sure that all the shops aren't selling the same things.

Mining District: TAKEN

Slightly more difficult to build than the Commercial District, this is a long 4X4 hallway with mines branching off of it. You must figure out what the glass rooms that the mines are in look like, as well as their size, and build them. Each citizen will have their own mine, so this may be an ongoing job; however, it shouldn't be too difficult. It's also your job to determine how to prevent citizens' mine shafts from interfering with each other; for example, large spacing between mines, limits on how far citizens can dig in the direction of other mines, etc.; it's up to you.

Residential District: TAKEN

Since houses won't be physically connected to the rest of the city, you won't have much building to do. However, it's your job to build the main airlock leading outside that citizens will exit to swim to their houses. Also, you must make sure houses aren't spaced too far apart; citizens will have to clear the location of their house with you before building. In addition, you need to keep houses from being built far away from the city; houses that are too far away wouldn't have block protection, and therefore would not be part of the city. But these are mostly things you'll be responsible for as manager of the district; in order to earn the position, you will help me build the main tower and the entrance tube.

Well, that's about it. If somehow more than four people want to be district managers, then I will choose the person who emailed me first for the position; however, if somebody bails, then the next person will get the job.

One last thing:

This is one of the most ambitious (and epic) projects ever attempted in the history of Kiwike. It will take a few hours, and your fingers will get sore from clicking, but in the end, it will pay off. If you are not up to the challenge of building New Rapture, then you probably shouldn't apply. However (initiate Andrew Ryan mode) if you believe that a man deserves to get out of life what he puts into it, and if you believe that hard labor is worth it for the end product, then go ahead and send me that application at geckosquid@gmail.com.

So, I've been thinking about starting something called The Kiwike games once 2.0 is released. It would basically be like the Olympics, except with 6 competitors (or more if enough people want to participate). So far, I've come up with these challenges: Navigating an obstacle course, going on a scavenger hunt throughout different cities, and, of course, Spleef. Whoever wins would get a grand prize of valuable items, as well as respect from other players. Would you guys be interested in something like that? I'm completely open to suggestions for other games to add.

so

I don't know if its just me, but i like taking advantage of whats already there in minecraft and building around it. Likewise for mines.

I feel like the game is much more enjoyable if you work with the environment rather than the alternative.

Does anyone else do the same?
Build houses on scenic cliffs over the beach, or construct extremely subtle, yet vast and expansive mountainside hide-aways?

I love taking something interesting and making it habitable, with making few outside changes, or a singular, defining aspect that makes that home unique. Or if not home, than some other purpose.

For instance, a cliff overhangs a forest or some other scenic scene. (did you see what I did there? ) I go underneath the cliff and build a corner-dome, extending from the tip of the cliff to about 25 squares back. The dome is symetrical on all 3 axis, and you can even walk on the glass and look straight down.

Or when mining- I hate hate hate strip mining.
I think finding a natural cavern is much much more exciting =]
