Gargoth Tower
Overview
Literally translated as The Dark Tower from the old nordic languages, it is a 700 year old masterpiece built by unified Nordic tribes to show their superiority towards the desert dwellers.
History
The construction of the tower began 713 years ago with the unification of 4 major Nordic tribes. They were ruled by one king who had refused of telling his real name in order to protect himself from the spirit-senders of the desert and thus weakening their resistance to minimum. The tower was built as a taunt and in honour of the wargod Demisth. As such the tower is built mostly by dark wood to contribute to one of the two colors of the wargod Demisth. The first being red marking the blood of fallen enemies and powering the god itself, the second, not really a colour, but the word translated would mean either shadow ot darkness. This meant the Dark Tower was supposed to transmit some of the powers of Demisth to the Nordic warriors and maing them stronger in combat.
The tower was completed in 11 years thanks to the slaves from the desert. There were more people killed in the building site than in raiding clashes between two nations. It is said that more than 120 slaves died during the construction, while 300 more were sacrificed upone the completion of the tower and only 70 men died in battles nearby.
It also took 5 years for the tribal Nords to gather enough Lapis to create a artificial heart for the tower and 3 years for their finest craftsmen to actually craft it.
50 years after the completeion of the tower, wood elves to the far west started sensing a magical disturbance. During the first 10 years of exploring into the matter, none of the scouts returned. After sending larger and larger parties to investigate, survivors started emerging from the conflicts between elves and Nords. The Magical disturbance was alarming and all nations of Wood elves unified under the same banner. In the year 649 the elves surprise attacked with a full scale army and were able to destroy the lapiz heart, but in the process of shattering, all the energy within it was released killing all living beings in 20 km radius. As a retribution the wargod Demisth destroyed the few remaining wood elf nations and was banished into the Underworld after losing all his followers. All chosen by Demisth were also destroyed when the Lapis heart exploded.
The Dark Powers
After sacrificing the 300 desert slaves to Demisth, lightning from clear sky struct the Lapis heart and powered it making the tower fully functional and able to pass powers to Nordic warrriors. Being selected as a chosen to Demisth the man had to go through painful process lasting 3 days and killing more than 50% of undergoers. But the survivors of the process were granted with superhuman abilities of which there isn't much to know because it was firmly kept in secret and no force clashing with Chosen of Demisth actually survived the contact.
