How he came to Kiwike

Chapter 1

Aloysius Leech’s eyes shifted, as he took in the sight that was the CSS Ageos. He had been its captain ever since the the day Confederacy of Space-Faring Planets bestowed upon him the rank of Flying, 63 years ago today. A long time for most, but merely a blink of an eye for an Enderman. But, the ship ready to be retired. And with it, its captain. As much as he loved exploring the depths of space, Leech was ready to settle down, get a more stable job, and start a family. This mission was his last. ‘And what a mission to end it on,’ he thought. He was transporting the Archprince to the planet of Altarnius, to speak at a state dinner with leaders of the planet. The Archprince, the only heir to throne of the CSFP, never showed interest in politics, preferring adventure and flights of fancy to politics and speeches. His parents had him go to state events to attempt to get him interested in politics, but he still preferred the thrill of exploration and adventure. Leech chuckled. He and the Archprince had at least 1 thing in common. He continues lingering in his thoughts, when a sudden shift startles him into attention.

“I didn’t order a change in direction!” Leech yells. As a surge of denying voices come from the crew, the direction shifts again. “Someone, pull up a video feed of the engine room!” Leech yells, this time with some fear in his voice. A malfunction like this had never happened. As the video feed opens, Leech’s eyes widen. All of the engine room workers were dead. Leech’s eyes shifted back in forth, trying to take in what was going on. There was a masked man messing with some of the wiring. ‘No doubt moving the ship into a place where they can make a getaway,’ he thought. Then, one of the crew members yelled “Unidentified person entering hall 14 on the E deck!” Leech searched his brain for what they would want on the E deck, when he remembered his mission. “They’re going after the Archprince!” Leech shouted! Leech then teleported out of the room, leaving all of the crewmembers to find a solution to their mess.

“Stupid limited teleportation” Leech muttered, as he teleported down each floor individually. He caught glimpses of the crew members as they ran out of their rooms, some wearing little more than boxer shorts, trying to figure out what’s going on. As he went downwards, Leech searched his brain for the location of the Archprince. ‘Room 3...47, I think.’ He thought to himself as he finally hit the E deck, and started racing over to Hall 3. Leech ran, trying to stop himself from thinking. Leech always was analytical, a skill helpful when it came to day-to-day operation, but a nightmare when dealing with an attack like this. After running for 2 minutes, he finally got to the room. He burst open the door. The Archprince was safe, just waking up after being disturbed by the incident. Leech sighed in relief, relief that went away when a shadow fell him.

As Leech turned around, a deep voice shed some light on the situation: “Let me shoot the kid, and you can go free.” As the confusion left his mind. It was replaced by fear. He knew that he could not just let the kid die. He was more than a man to the weathered veteran. He was a friend.

“If you want him you’ll have to go through me!” Exclaimed Leech. This only brought a sinister smile to the man’s face. The man placed his finger on the trigger, when down the hall, someone yelled “Hey, Bastard!” And a shot rang out through the air.

As Leech opened his eyes, he found out that he was, in fact, not dead, and the man in front of him was no more. In his place lied a corpse, next to a pile of flesh that likely came from the man’s head. Leech peered his head around the corner to see FunnyCop around the corner. FunnyCop was one of the Secret Service agents who came on board with the Archprince to serve as his protection detail. He made sure that his name wasn’t known to anyone, so the other Secret Service members called him FunnyCop due to his great sense of humor. Leech never expected the man to be his life-saver, but there he was, like a rather comedic angel.

Leech went to greet the man, when he remembered that the ship was not under his control. He attempted to think of what to do next, when a strange sensation came from his gut telling him to to go to the escape pods. And, he decided to listen to this unusual feeling, bringing the unfortunate royalty and stand-up savior with him. Luckily, the Archprince’s cabin had been placed near the escape pods, in case an emergency such as this were to happen. Leech, The Archprince, and FunnyCop loaded into the pod. After taking a final look at his ship, Leech finally mustered up the strength to begin the start-up sequence. As he closed the doors and actuated the thrusters, he mourned the now out-of-control ship that was his pride and joy for 63 years. He wondered if he would ever get it back when he noticed something. They had gotten caught in the gravity of a nearby planet. Leech, wondering if this was a stroke of luck or a sign of fate, kept his eyes fixated on his ship, awaiting the takeoff of the other pods. They never did.

After accepting that he is about to hit this unknown rock and that no other souls were making it off the ship, he looked at the people around him. The captain and the cargo were all that’s left of a once proud ship.

After several more minutes of self-pity, the captain’s attention turned to the planet. ‘The ship’s computer said this was Kiwike, but I thought that was a fruit. Nothing else we can call it though,’ Leech thought to himself. He looked out upon the colorful planet, and was glad to see the planet dotted with small civilizations. And then it hit him. “We’re heading into the atmosphere!” Leech yelled,as he tried to think of what to dp. ‘There’s no way we can land without being crushed at this speed’ Leech thought to himself, still in a panic. Then he remembered the pod’s reverse thrusters. ‘They aren’t strong, but they can probably slow our descent’ was the only hopeful thought that ran through Leech’s mind as he started flipping switches and pressing buttons. Luckily, the thrusters did work well enough, and the ship slowed to a reasonably low speed before landing with a climatic THUD. As the survivors filtered out of the pod, they looked up into the sky to see a starship hurdling towards the ground, finally hitting in a violent explosion, sending shrapnel for miles. Leech bowed his head, in honor of the ship and it’s crew, who likely were incinerated right as the ship crashed. After the gut-wrenching sight ended, Leech turned to the 2 individuals who stood behind him. Leech had been amazed at how they handled the situation so far, but was worried about the news he had to deliver.

“We can’t get out of here, at least not at the current time,” Leech informed his companions, which was followed by a multi-voiced shout of “Are you kidding me!?” Leech had thought he heard excitement in the Archprince’s voice, but thought nothing of it. Then, FunnyCop asked the question that Leech had forgotten to ask himself: “What do we do from here?” After a moment of thought, Leech replied

“Well, I guess we rebuild. Make a colony, make friendly with the natives, and find a way out of here.”

FunnyCop asked Leech, “What do we call this colony?”

Leech replied with his first smile of the day, “I think we all know what to call it:

Ageos”
