If you want to get past a tripwire, use an enderpearl.. nuff said.

If you were to go about this in an rp way, wouldn't cutting though a tripwire cause it to activate irl because of the sudden release of pressure?

RE: Tripwire Rules - Sir Prize - 08-10-2012

Tripwires should be griefable. It only makes sense that they would be, since you know. It's a tripwire. And like Crash said, there are far more effective ways to avoid tripwires than cutting them so it really would not make any difference on gameplay if they were griefable.

No because the pressure that is created by MOVING the wire back or forth sets of a trap not the other way around i mean maybe some clever man is able to do that somehow but i dont know how he can do it

Well, you solidly anchor one side of the string, and attach the other side so its holding something down, like some crude lever. If you cut it, the string doesnt hold the lever down anymore so it pops open triggering the mechanism. Its the same as if someone walked through it, their legs pulling the string off the lever making it pop up. Atleast I'm pretty sure thats how they work. It seems to me that mojang added laser motion detectors instead of tripwires...

RE: Tripwire Rules - Android - 08-10-2012

No, when you walk through the tripwire it'd pull on the 'anchor,' so to speak, this releasing the redstone current. If you cut it, the anchor won't be pulled on. If it were the case you were talking about, yeah, it wouldn't make much sense.

Just leave it be - we have bigger priorities for coding anyway.

RE: Tripwire Rules - sethd13 - 08-10-2012

The pressure is caused by strain being put on the levers.

Just so everyone knows: in vanilla minecraft, a tripwire is activated for a brief interval (I think a tick) when broken by hand. This short activation can be avoided if shears are used when breaking the tripwire.
