(I think doing little stories like this is a good way to give insight on your character without forcing everyone to read your back story. I'll probably just follow up by adding on little shorts like this of my characters interactions with others.

The wind blew from the south and with it carried a bitter cold. The man sat perched upon a tall tree closing his eyes against the wind. He revers the night, it is when his true nature is least inhibited. With the inquisitive prying eyes of humans blinded by it's cold dark veil.
He opened his crimson eyes to view the forest canopy. Those foolish old men had allowed him such an opportunity. This new fresh world lying before him. "Oh, how much will fun I will have," he spoke aloud to no one in particular as his lips spread back to reveal sharpened canines in a wicked grin.
He could feel the spirits of the damned walking below him and his smile broadened. He reached out with his mind and pulled the last shreds of life from them, "ah how good it feels to be alive," he spoke as the wind ruffled the leaves in the suddenly quiet forest. His pointed ear twitched as the sound of crunching leaves pierced the air. He recognized the presence of a human and stood upright on the sturdy branch upon which he rested.
His features began to shift, his red eyes morphing into a soft lavender, his pointed ears shrinking to human proportions, his horns hidden carefully under his hat and his tail tucked into his pants. He leapt deftly to the the forest floor as the familiar presence drew near. "Good evening young prince," he said, grin still plastered on his face. "Good evening Sir Pheles, you certainly love taking these night strolls," the boy replied with an inquisitive glance at the demon in disguise. "Do I?" He gave a thoughtful pause before replying,"It makes me feel... how do I put it...alive."
