Grief.
Hey I am curious about the extent of the no grieving scenario, say a player/town/member of a town attacked your town either by theft or damage in one way or another and hence proves that the aforementioned player/town/member of a town has through this act proven to be a threat to your town/person does this enable you to retaliate and completely destroy that persons town as it is a threat to your own?
Just curious

RE: Grief.
Hmmm... Well, I dunno... I guese all's fair in love and war, I wouldn't have a problem with it (unless, of coarse, it is an aubvious work of art or took an aubviously long time to make). As long as it isn't "This guy stole a pickaxe from me, so I'm going to TNT his house!" or something stupid and obsurd. An eye for an eye is ok; an eye for a broken nail isn't.

RE: Grief.
No, I wouldn't say grieving is allowed under any circumstances. However, you could try to kill them and occupy their town as a solution?

RE: Grief.
Griefing/warfare to that extent can only be allowed when strictly moderated. I like the idea of burning down a town as an act of war. But both parties should agree to a war first.

RE: Grief.
Yea, I agree with Graft. There needs to be a way that you could decimate a town in retaliation to an attack, or as an act of warfare, withought it being griefing. Some cities were completely leveled - in some cases, when Rome attacked, they burned the cities to the ground and salted the fields so that no-one could ever live there again. Also, in more recent times (WWII), two cities were nuked and made completely devoid of life! However, there needs to be a way to distinguish between the two...

I think a declaration of war is a great idea because then you know what you are getting yourself into before it happens. That way we can avoid angering the people who just want to build for fun and can add a epic war element to those of us who want to bury our enemies in their own creations and hard labor. lol

RE: Grief.
I was thinking of a system like this;
A steals from B, stealing is an act of war so B can either declare war to A (& rape their sh*t) or report the crime & A gets a penalty served by a mod.
A wants a piece of B's land/item(s), so A declares war. B can accept & go to war or deny and give up the disputed land/item(s).
Declarations of war;
Stealing
PvP
Formal declaration on the forums
Maybe divide the map into 2 parts, 1 part with strict no griefing, stealing & pvp rules and the other moderated griefing, stealing & pvp. /boring
Griefing sounds bad, it is. I'd like to think of griefing as the destruction of a person's creations with no gain. War however has a gain, but destruction during war should be realistic. So no floating blocks and random destruction. When you want to defeat a nation, tear down a house/wall/keep and leave some good lookin ruins!
