RE: Star citizen
This looks pretty neat, I might check it out.
We could form a Kiwike coalition or something and then give up after two weeks.
You wot?

RE: Star citizen
Greatest game of all time coming up. I'm starting a guild with my friend, which isn't necessarily associated with Kiwike, but if anyone who has already pledged is interested in joining that would be awesome. It's currently composed of a whole three people!

Speaking of Planetside...
But in all seriousness, I'm only interested in Star Citizen because it's made by the guy who did the Wing Commander series. Looks like your average Eve Online ripoff, with a little less graphing paper and more shooting things.

And, no subscription fee (My main turnoff for EVE Online).

That can depend on where you look at it from. For example, Star Citizen is absolutely an MMO-style (whether or not it could be considered a full fledged MMO is up for debate) Space Sim with a single, persistent world which the individual player can make a difference. However, many of the gameplay elements are very different. For example, Star Citizen is designed from the ground up to be immersive to a level that not EVE Online, nor any other game that I can think of could ever hope to achieve, and that's probably the most notable difference. In EVE Online, you are playing as an "immortal" entity in a universe who controls things from afar, where as in Star Citizen, you will be playing as an actual person in a world doing things that the actual person would do.
That is by no means the only difference between the two games; there is a plethora of other differences that make them have a totally seperate feel and style in other ways, but it is one example of how the games are different, despite some of their apparent similarities. One thing's for sure, it is not an EVE Online clone.
Of course this is all speculative based on what I have been told by the Star Citizen community and the developers of the game (Chris Roberts, etc...), but I have seen enough evidence to firmly believe everything I have said is true.

RE: Star citizen
You're absolutely right. EVE is a game of grand strategy. Star Citizen is a first-person adventure game. Yes, they're both multiplayer games that take place in space. By that token, you could say that EVE is a ripoff of Wing Commander and its predecessors (Starlancer, Freelancer, etc.).
