RE: Town Application: New Cretacia
Yes Waffle. Your town didn't fall because Helvanthar had taxes, rather, we have no taxes whatsoever imposed on our towns. What got you was the weekly upkeep fees that are taken from every town and nation's bank.
So becoming a nomad town will not make a difference, we'd be glad to except you into Helvanthar again, if you'd like.

I think Yotta taxes towns so that we don't have a million abandoned towns lying all over the place.

No, not really. If you have something to contribute, go right ahead. That was an important point.

RE: Town Application: New Cretacia
The point to taxes are to add more of a roleplay element into the leadership of a town/nation. In real life there are upkeep prices to towns and nations, stuff like city buildings, payment to political people, ext. Of course its a game, and these dont really have any point to benefit us, but it still adds the challenge of starting a town and keeping it going.

I think the real point of taxes is a counter-measure against inflation. Every day a good amount of gold (I can't imagine it's under 100) is taken from the earth, and people get their 2g for voting. If there were no way for gold to exit the system everyone would just get more and more and it would eventually become worthless. Rent and ship licence upkeep are a means of removing gold from the kiwike world so the economy doesn't get ridiculous.

RE: Town Application: New Cretacia
That is correct Teh, at-least from what I can get from it.
If there where no taxes, no upkeep, the gold would just keep going from player to player, and more and more would be coming in from voting. The gold is per-say recycled through the system.
It goes into taxes, and comes out in voting and such.
