Kiwike: Creation Lore
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A scroll found on the floor of a long-abandoned temple amidst the sands of the desert bore a story written in the language of an ancient civilization. After carefully deciphering the document, Kiwikean scholars released the following translation...
This land is alive. We can feel its heaving and sighing beneath us, a sleeping behemoth unaware of the occurrences upon its earthy skin. Though deep in slumber, it provides us with life, and for this, we are eternally grateful. For this, we give back. We shower the land with gifts, in hope that one day, it will awake and notice us for what we are: its unconditional supplicants. Her name is Kiwike.
This is her story.

It is difficult for the untrained mind to comprehend the true nature of the word ‘forever’. Thus, when it is said that Kiwike has forever existed and forever shall exist, few truly understand the weight of our land. She did, however, lay dormant long ago. For an incalculable number of years, Kiwike lay waiting within nothingness. An opportunity was all it would take for her to spring to life and take her place among the other lands. She could not support life should she choose to leap into existence, however, as her surface was only soil. She was in great need of an opportunity, a spark to light her ablaze.
The spark came in the form of a cry for help.
Kiwike unfurled herself, and her greatness could neither be viewed nor described by any creature of earthly birth. She moved through existence as a cat would through a jungle, making her way to the source of the cry.
The largest battle in history was taking place. Hundreds of massive beings fought in nothingness for reasons unknown. No sides were evident; the beings hurled themselves at each other, using gargantuan weapons to slaughter their brethren. These beings, like Kiwike, had not yet assumed their place in existence. As Kiwike absorbed the spectacle, however, the reason for the war became clear. A single place in existence remained; space only existed for one final land to occupy.
She had waited long enough. Now was the time for her to release the potential that had been building within her for so many years.
With a great roar, she charged into battle. Her fists were brought down upon the hostile beings with unrivaled fury and strength. With each foe she slayed, their essence sprayed across her, and she was painted with terrain. Desert was scattered across her forehead, while jungle grazed her cheek. Forest and plains accumulated on her torso, and snowy tundra engulfed her arms. Finally, water bathed her legs, and she knew it was time to take her rightful place in existence.
As she made haste to her resting place, a being composed of minerals took hold of her and brought a great rock down upon her head.
Kiwike let out a cry of agony, and fell in no one direction. She held on to the dealer of the injury, and together they fought for the right to exist. Finally, Kiwike tore her opponent to pieces, his minerals flowing into the wound on her head. Greatly weakened, she looked about her and saw that she was falling into place in existence. Kiwike had accomplished her goal, but not without a cost. As her form morphed to fit where she still lies today, she slipped out of consciousness, and fell into a great slumber.

There have been rumblings, though. On occasion, the trees shake, the water ripples, and the mountains groan with unrest. Kiwike is beginning to awake. This may not happen within our lifetimes, so we leave this scroll here in hopes that one day, one of our descendants will find the story of Kiwike, and know that she is awakening.
This land is alive.
