Sugar cane, cactus flowers etc...
ok so we've been walking around for miles and miles and still no dia.... i mean sugar cane etc.. to be found it would be nice if yotta or another mod could set a supply of reeds or something for everyone to make paper cake books and bookshelves. just asking for some reeds so i can have my cake factory

Yea, I've heard talk about this. I've also heard some rare cases in which individuals find the reeds and cacti specifically. Not sure about flowers or pumpkins. Personally, I'm dying for a pumpkin. We'll look into it.

On the other hand, I kind of like it. You only need one reed or cacti to produce an unlimited amount. Think about it, it's sort of cool in a way.

I can imagine the guy who finds one reed; he would become very rich selling the first couple, then the price would drop to nothing Smiley

I've actually seen reeds.
Unfortunately, I didn't think to dig em up...

After further investigation, it seems like the map generator skipped reeds, cacti, flowers and pumpkins or made them really really rare.
I expanded the map by 500 blocks on all sides. These areas will have generated stuff like normal.
We also have some ideas on other ways to solve this issue! Wink

You probably did see them. They were just extremely rare and you stumbled across one of the few out there.
