It introduces the Vampire element and the humans-out-to-kill-them element.
Not sure how exactly the Elder Scrolls would help block out the sun though . . . last I checked they were more tools of prophecy than power.
Before dropping the gauntlet of criticism here, I'd like to point out how huge of a fan I am of Skyrim. I have played over 100 well-spent hours of it. It is one of my favorite games of all time.
One of the reasons that I love it so much is the world. It is massive, beautiful, and fully realized. So, naturally, in the wake of previous franchise expansions like Shivering Isles, I, as a long-time fan, want to see whole new areas opened up, with more cities and sweeping vistas, as well as multiple new storylines. As aforementioned, this is to be expected after Shivering Isles.
However, as far as I can understand, we're getting a single new quest line that takes place mostly on the old map and partly in a demon realm that is akin to Oblivion. No new cities. No massive swaths of land. Basically, not the caliber of expansion that one would expect after the sheer time that Bethesda has spent making this.
I very much hope I am wrong, but this looks like a typical small Fallout-type expansion rather than a huge chunk of content.
Well it seems to be considered a plug-in, not an expansion like Shivering Isles.
Also,

Where you get this info?
If massive new areas had been opened up, the trailer would have made that clear.
