A contract

THE UNITED REPUBLIC

As agreed in the meeting in Revolt between Xela and Crazy, the United Republic promises to pay Xela on presentation of this contract the sum of 50GN if the terms of his lease are altered whereupon:

-> The "lease" refers to the sum of 100GN paid to Crazy for use of a market stand in the town of Revolt
-> The "terms" are any departure in the charge for using the stall from a flat payment to any form of time-based cost
-> The "United Republic" refers to the nation-state presently in control of Revolt and its market. Any successor state or other entity in control of the market of Revolt is assumed to take liability for this contract as part of control of the territory.
-> Further to the previous point, the responsibility of payment resides with the leader of the United Republic but may be deferred to any other representative, specifically the Financial and Economic Governor.

The lease agreement may be terminated by Xela at any time without penalty but with the caveat of forfeiting the payment. Notice must be given to the UR in this situation via mailbox and the premises must be vacated immediately.

No charge can be made to Xela upon a change of terms until the sum is paid, and indeed any lease change will not be valid until payment is made as long as this contract can be presented upon request for payment. Notice of a change of terms and associated payment can be made via mailbox accessible in the Central Post Office or in person, but if made via mailbox then reasonable time must be given for Xela to renew the lease or vacate the premises before charges can be levied.

This contract is transferable and the current holder of the contract at any time will also control the lease of the stall and therefore be liable for payment.

Failure to respect the terms of this contract by either party will result in a fine of 1000GN or the value of the stock in the stall plus 500GN, whichever is greater. If payment is not received, the slighted party reserves the right to claim chattels of the violator to repay the debt, each item claimed being valued at 1/2 the price for such an item or similar raw materials at Minas Sirth for the purpose of compensation.

((Trust me. This is a very good move on both parts. Although those that come into 'power' won't recognise it, it is an agreement that can be pointed to in the future as a defining moment of civilized government and politics. Just because you have the most presence and the most men in your army doesn't make you the most important or respected. This sets a precedence here - one that will be followed in the time to come. That, my friends, is the real importance.))

((As unlikely as it is that anyone will ever actually honour this thing, I have a letter in my inventory that *is* the actual contract that has this text on it, so at some point I really really want to use it to scream "I HAVE A CONTRACT" and then throw a fit. Possibly I'll hire some raiders or something.

It's a bit long and seems silly but it'll provide some good RP at some point or another, or else save me 50GN. Also I'm meant to be a businessman at the moment so you know, better set up the role a little.
