Not as I understand it--the Overworld and the Nether have different terrain generation. The Overworld could be 50x50 leading off into void but the Nether would still be the same.

Awwwww so in thery you could have walked a couple thousand blocks back and then made a nether portal and then wind up outside the normal boundary?? Or am I just dumb..

Technically yes, but it would have put you back into Mavenholm. I made a Nether portal by the edge of the map, and since the Nether is so broken in multiplayer, the portal was outside of the boundaries and whenever I went back through I ended in Mavenholm.

Mine was literally right outside, not even 20 blocks. I could see the portal from a distance.

That happens on servers I play on too. But it's usually because the OPs are teleporting to random areas. Tongue

Nether isn't broken, that's how it works. The distance traveled in the nether is something like 1 block in nether equals 8 blocks in overworld.
