Realism
As I've said before in a few other posts, realism is key to role playing. My main points that I would like to bring up are 1: Amount of towns and cities. I think there should be a limited amount of towns an cities within a nation as it would be harder traveling from town to town which equals more fun 2: Buying land, iConomy, I kind of went on a rant about this in another topic and 3: Flooding mines, I know it's annoying but from what I am imagining, it would be awesome! Just think, I'm a mayor, I'm safe in my house, somebody calls for help on the town chat line (I also made a post about this) it just so happens that the miner has struck water and is trapped in a cavity of his own mine. A whole brigade of 'helpers' (Better name?) come in with buckets to save the trapped miner, all is then good.

I think that would be really cool and one more thing, if somebody is extremely good with computers and writing, maybe they could write a weekly gazette for the town they reside in.

[EDIT] I had also just recently seen somebody say they were excited to build a rollercoaster. For the sake of realism and role playing, I think this shouldn't be allowed as it ruins it for other people.

One last thing, would it be possible to give me the power as a mayor to give the citizens of Droidopolis building permits? And limit the area they're allowed to work in. To keep a community together, low class citizens cannot build mansions. Would it be possible to go around and check if that person had a permit? I think permits should be integrated with all towns, villages, and cities.

Re: Realism
yeah, sounds cool, stuff like water in mines is too hard to realize. But little things like no minecarts can help, i mean, we're roleplaying, that's medieval right? (or wild west but that sucks) and buying ground would be awesome too, but it's also really hard to realize!

Re: Realism
It can't be that hard to realize. There's a server called Buxville that you can buy plots of land. People can even become landlords and buy multiple plots. On that land, they could build hotels and apartment buildings. There's tools they can use to define rooms within those buildings that they can rent out and the renter can only affect the defined area of that room.

Their caste system is cool too. They have three castes and you can choose one to join and advance through each one. The cool thing is, you advance by doing things for your caste. Merchants, for example, have to run certain number of auctions and make multiple business transactions. Once you complete these tasks, you talk to an NPC in the main city and pay a fee for him to "train" you to the next level in your caste.

I've never been on the server, so I don't know the specifics of how everything works. I was really interested in their system so I read through their forums a bit. Very cool stuff. I'm not saying that we should mimic everything they're doing, but we could use what suits us.

Re: Realism
That is a pretty neat server. I'd rather spend my time here for now though. I definitely like the renting idea and beig able to only edit the area you rented. I agree stern that we should not mimic everything such as castes but the buying plots of land would be awesome.

Re: Realism
I think I found the mod they use on the hMod forums. It's called Realms. It allows people with the proper rights to define a zone of pretty much any size. Inside that main zone, other, smaller ones can be defined. Reading the guides in their forums, I'm pretty sure this is how Buxville does their hotels/ apartments.

There is a lot of things you can do with these defined zones. Admins can use them to define areas for new players that PvP would not be allowed in. Can also be used do allow/ forbid building, or even entering, into defined areas. Could be very useful.

Re: Realism
I believe we will implement that mod stern, I like this not only for the "No PvP zone"

Towny is just for Anti-GREIFING

Which is dumb.

I believe a new map should be rendered and we sell/rent/buy plots.

City plot = 8000kiwi (300x300)
Mega reseller plot = 5000kiwi (200x200)
Resale plot = 3000kiwi (100x100) - Has about 3-5 plots inside or more depending on how much space you want to give out.
Community plot = 1500 kiwi (50x50)
Single plot = 300kiwi (10x10)

We were also thinking of implementing a leveling system, which in turn would be a level requirement per plot size, level 5 for a community plot, level 8 for a resale plot, level 15 for a mega reseller plot, level 30 for a city plot.

This would make city's less common, small villages more common, would benefit the economy.

Re: Realism
I agree with everything you say there. Except for the set prices on plots. I like the way Buxville does it. The prices are set by the town that the plot is in. As a player you can rank up to the point where you can define protected zones in the wild and also plots that you own in cities. Then you can rent out those plots for whatever price. Mostly, the prices are set by the city's mayor or council.

I hope I don't offend anyone with how much I've been reference Buxville. I just like the way they do a lot of things. I would like Kiwike to become a well known and fun server and I think a lot of these things would help get it there.

Re: Realism
Agreed stern, a lot if the town business ad economy depends on what the people have to buy, I can also say confidently that people will move to a town with cheaper lots. This f course creates competition which will effect the economies of these towns. As for a new map, I don't mind at all seeing as I dont own anything of value in it but that may be different for the others who do. To add into that, not all played are active here so if a new map is created, they gonna be really confused and will complain to you.

Re: Realism
Wait, one question (pretty off-topic): Is there a new world starting or is the old one getting back?
