Removal of shop protection
Some players are setting up large shops with pretty much every item available to get permanent protection. This is currently not against the rules, but it definitely defeats the purpose of locked chests.

Suggestion is that we remove the permanent protection from shop chests and you will be required to attach a lock to shops instead. This means shops can also be lockpicked while you are online.

Pros:
- No unfair chest protection
- Encourages RP as you won't be selling every item but rather something that fits your character

Cons:
- Less people will want to set up shops
- You probably want to keep a small number of items in your chest in case it's lockpicked.
- etc.

RE: Removal of shop protection
With people leaving less in shops and not bothering to restock then, I fear we would have more 'abandoned' shops than ever - like basically every shop at crushrush's public market right now.

Herm. I feel as though it should be able to put a lock on, but decrease the chance to pick it by a whole lot. This way, you will still be encouraged to buy goods, and make shops.

Hmm. You make a compelling argument, bowser. Now do you want to be of some help and tell us why..?

RE: Removal of shop protection
I don't think we should do this. Nobody would be compelled to buy; why pay for 16 iron when you can get much more just by picking the lock a few times? Perhaps you only get one chance at picking it per day or something, and you can only pick it with a diamond pick, and it takes a long time to pick the lock.

RE: Removal of shop protection
Well, we are having a problem with people hiding all their goods in it, as said above.

RE: Removal of shop protection
I'd rather remove shops entirely if this is how it would work. They are rather unrealistic as is, and in-person transactions are far more interesting. This would also put some actual necessity behind being a shopkeeper.

This would basically be putting valued chests in the reach of any enemy. The claim to want a more organized RP experience where people stick to character and morals would pretty much disappear if the ability to pick any shop came up - I can all but guarantee more players would visit shops to break into them than to buy from them.

However, I hardly ever sell with shops, and hate shop abuse with a passion - so this would probably only be a plus for me, but it would hurt a lot of characters that ritually use shops to make an income in game.

I think it would be better to get rid of shops all together and open the business to trading company's. Like in Kiwike 1.0, I remember Pwolbart and I opening Blue Horizon Trading posts and people would trade goods for stuff they wanted.

I don't know about the locks, but the protection must go away.
