Rant: Roleplayers
Does it also occur to you that the people that call themselves roleplayers these days are mostly people who doesn't know shit about roleplaying at all and just thinks it's killing things and being overpowered.

Before Minecraft I used to play Warcraft 3 and roleplayed a lot.
Every single roleplayer on BNet is a retard.
I mean like, royally retarded.

There was this map named SotDRP (Secrets of the Depth of Roleplaying), where you practically created the world you wanted to roleplay in, and customized your character.

Now, to make the most of the RP experience when I hosted games, I introduced something that's called Emoted Battle upon the players.
Not a single one used it correctly, or well. There were a few who did. But the majority did not.

What it means is that instead of just using your character's incredibly pumped up stats and overpowered items, you used "emotes", or /me commands as we call them on our server, to simulate the battle.

The players paid no heed to their fellow players, always acting bigger and better than everyone else, always finding new ways to beat eachother, being the more overpowered.
Of course, no one likes to lose, but seriously. The things people came up with, I'm almost feeling sorry that their imagination was not used to being actually intelligent.

And what's more. They always seemed to roleplay through the player perspective, they had no sense of immersion whatsoever.
Their character's always knew everything.

Is this really what's supposed to happen when you make a tool that can give you the ultimate graphical roleplaying experience?
So ruined by idiots.

RE: Rant: Roleplayers
Hmm.
You should meat Cerce, he is an expert at Rant's on Role-play. No offense Cerce.
I did play Warcraft 3, and i will agree with you, RP on there sucks.
Maps such as School life, got ruined from being a good map, to just total out, i'm better than you.
I'm not an avid roleplayer myself, i'm not for it, or against it, but i am quite good at it.
And of course, the classic excuse of "Playing minecraft is roleplaying".
It is, but not to the extent at what you are trying to get at, or what Cerce is trying to get at, and I wish that most people would get that.

I do think that since i have played Warcraft 3 before, and seen at what horrible roleplayers those people area, i can see where you are coming from, and why you can rant on, and i would rant with you, except for one fact, the amount of Role-play on Kiwike amazed me from the 1.0-pre 2.0-2.0 transfer. If you saw that, you would of saw how far we have come from a flimsy group of friends, building towns, to the Knights of Dusk, and people like Cerce. It amazes me.

Your rant in my mind, deserves a 10/10, even though i preferred Vamps Smiley.

RE: Rant: Roleplayers
Yes, well I'm not into roleplaying nowadays.
It was mostly ruined by my time on Warcraft 3, and the friends I brought with me to the server aren't exactly active roleplayers.

But I wouldn't back down from some good old roleplay.

And thank you Cell, ranting is what I do best, unfortunately.

Agreed, I RPed in SotDRP quite a bit. The people i met O.O. frustrating. As you said about emote fighting that was alyways fun. We would make rules like your characters has 2-5 hp and we would roll whoever got the higher number got the first strike and typed some text describing the blow. We would continue and so on. Wc3 had some of the best roleplaying ive seen in a long time, but the roleplayers were something else.

RE: Rant: Roleplayers
Well, I do from time to time host private roleplaying sessions on SotDRP.

If any of you would be interested I'd be more than happy to oblige.

RE: Rant: Roleplayers
Oh my god I love you.

But, in response to your rant I have one of my own...

I apologize if any of the following is incorrectly spelled or has grammatical errors or is incorrectly capitalized, as I am doing this on iphone.

I must agree with cell when he states that we have come quite a long ways from 1.0 to 2.0. In 1.0, it indeed was a rare sight to see anyone roleplaying until the last few months of 1.0. for more information regarding those types of roleplay and other examples please see gecko's Epic Moments of Roleplaying Epicness. all of that was completely impromptu and have no script or previous lore. of course some of it was not recorded because gecko squid started recording late. feel free to look it up on youtube.

On he subject of the emotive battle, I agree that many people can't utilize this roleplay simply because many people just simply whish to win. in actual combat, the decision comes down to basic skills, not some pre determined out come or ego fed unrealistic wins. I for 1 have never ever ever been a fan of the emotive battle, as newer players cannot jump in whenever they wish. Emotive battle roleplay requires an extensive vocabulary and wide open mind and an ability to lose. the average participant of the usual role play with in kiwike does not contain those traits. meny are new with this type of playing. and I personally am a visual person. I can't enjoy not seeing the outcome of my battles or encounters just simply because somebody has this little script next to the computer. minecraft is about building, mining and surviving, not reeding a cool little story ( and yet I sometimes find myself writing a little stories on the forums), however epic the story might be. that's just my 2 cents on the subject.
Oh, and sotdrp had way too many commands. I was much more of the titans land player myself, with som american colonization or maybe some life of a peasant thrown in... All with pro RP'ers, of course. you can still cach me hosting a few games with MMH.

"One can concentrate so closely on the words of a sentence that one thereby misses the meaning. As can happen in any area of life. You must never lose focus on the larger landscape."
