The problem as I see it is that you can build the best defences possible and hide your chests behind 50 blocks but whatever you do is generally pointless. When you log off they have huge amounts of time to find your home and rob it blind. I'm not sure if something like this existed on the old server but would a system were by you can only attack / raid someones home or village when they are online and can defend it. Other wise you're just playing on singleplayer mode - loading maps and brutalising empty towns...

This would lead to arranged battles which are frankly more interesting and gives everyone a chance to be there for the event, it stimulate the economy as well.

Constructive thoughs?

This is always the problem with wars and theft on an RP server. Some things just do not translate well from 'real life' to a game. My opinion is to condone theft, in the sense of stealing from chests which are ACCESSIBLE. Chests which are hidden underground, behind obsidian walls or locked doors cannot be reached without griefing.
