Question. What does the guild actually do and how does one advance in its ranks?

Members of the guild, do work for the guild and attempt to practice their craft. Alchemists Brew, Enchanters Enchant and, Engineers build. On a larger level we will maintain neutrality in wars and will try to keep the peace among the nations of 3.0. To advance past apprenticeship to the rank of novice one must be tested by the archmage of their class in their art. A test might be to design a combo lock to protect teh guild storage for an engineer or to make 4 fortune 3 pickaxes for an enchanter. As someone reaches this rank of Novice they gain a certain amount of autonomy. They will be expected to work on their craft but they can do it at their own rate how they please. Promotions beyond novice will either work in one of two ways. One, we could base it off how much coin the mage brings in for the guild however, I do not believe that is a good thing to base a guild around. No, I think that guild advancement shall work out to how much time you spend on guild duties and how much help you provide for the guild. For instance an engineer constantly working to build awesome contraptions for the guild bases would be promoted much faster than someone who doesn't do any work for the guild on focuses on private designs.
