Lever locks which are still used have have been around 17th century

The fact of the matter is that lock picking locks in itself is an unrealistic venture to add to a game in a balanced way and that burying your chests is a much older concept

Just a simple prove of concept to show you how wrong you are in thinking locks are so hard to pick. all the tools were there long ago lock picking like i sayed before was easy up untill a recently as the 1900

I always carry all of these things around with me. Are you proposing that a list of many various items will be required to pick a lock? Also there would be no uniformity as each would be made by a different crater. So you would have to know a lot about the lock which could range from very simple to very complex for it's lock type just to gain access.
