As long as your chests are hidden and do not have any air blocks surrounding them, you should not have to worry about X-rayers finding them. We do have protection for that kind of stuff.

The new rules state that we aren't allowed to put blocks on top of chests -_-

You are allowed to hide your chests. But not just pop a block on them. The difference is quite clear.
