Actually no, I just remember the basics of my physics and chemistry classes.

Lightning wouldn't make oil explode, it'd just superheat it, which would cause the easily excitable components of oil to evaporate, leaving anything else behind--basically it's not oil anymore.

Compressed gunpowder would be rather destructive if struck by lightning though. In fact, depending on the amount of compressed gunpowder and the size of the ship, everyone else on it may have died in the explosion and possible resulting crash.
